Does this adventure actually exist? As of my recent batch of testing (4 or 5 days ending March 29, 2006), I encountered exactly zero of these monsters in 8855 adventures in the alley. Can someone confirm or deny this?--Yiab 15:33, 30 March 2006 (CST)

Needed certainty on the drop rate on the gloves while working on slimeling spading:

So, somewhat remarkably, the gloves are actually a 31% drop rate, not 30% (as is probably commonly believed). Since this monster (or at least the drunken version this is a clone of) is from the early days of KoL, I take this as believable (beyond just the very strong statistical evidence). Jick probably hadn't quite settled into his "every rate is a multiple of 5" habits we know him for today. --Flargen 12:08, 18 September 2011 (CEST)

Took annoyingly long to find the drop rate on the mad train wine. It's quite a bit lower than the 60% you'd expect from Yiab's data: 57%. Probably should have switched to testing maxing out the drop sooner than I did, but oh well. Here's the aggregate data I collected.

The last three +item values in particular mean that the mad train is at most a 57% drop; and the data analysis itself points to 57% as the only statistically valid possibility. --Flargen 06:33, 22 September 2011 (CEST)

Special Attack Effect

I received this adventure and I got attacked with a variation of the "He pelts you with a handful of spare change" which gave me three meat. I have unfortunatly forgotton the message and I'm too strong to get hit by the creature anymore, so I can't confirm exactly what the attack said. I just thought someone may be able to help out here. • Nice. Yeah, it's not actually a variation of the attack message, it's the same one as before but with a new effect. And I can confirm that it's possible to receive it multiple times in one battle. Joke Reference

Okay, I'm getting tired of seeing those revisions going back and forth. I'm going to explain this very, very thoroughly.

1) "Now there's too much blood in your broken-glass-stream." 2) "There's too much caffeine in your blood stream and a lack of real spice in your life." 3) "There's no blood in my alcohol system, officer!"

1 and 3 both deal with alcohol, as the hobo has just smacked you with a bottle of Mad Train. 2 has nothing to do with any kind of joke relating to booze.

1 and 3 also have the "There's too much blood in my x" joke setup. 2 isn't the setup for any kind of joke at all. If the hit message was "Now there's too much broken glass in your blood system", it might be a reference. But it's not. Okay? Okay. No more reverts. --TechSmurf 15:36, 11 October 2007 (CDT)

The meme that a drunk person/hobo often exchanges two words in a sentence to "humorous" effect is the real reference here. There are plenty of permutations on this idea.

It's unlikely to be a Smiths reference because the phrase "there's too much X in your blood stream" is simply a common phrase. Try googling those words; it and very similar variations are quite common when referring to the effect of alcohol and other drugs. Of course it's possible that Jick&Co had the Smiths in mind when writing the line, but without explicit words from them to that effect, there's no particular reason to think so. --Starwed 17:46, 11 October 2007 (CDT)

The text from the drunken orc is equally vague. He vomits up an acidic stew of Mad Train wine and stomach acid, but you dodge this corrosion. You wish some one would give you some sirens.
