Talk:Imitation Crab
Possible abilities of the crab
Is it possible that the crab's 'mean disposition' has something to do with monster level, in addition to the possibility of it being an attack familiar? --IridescentFUZZ 16:37, 5 December 2008 (IST)
- Stab Bat clone? --Evilkolbot 17:48, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
For me it was doing two attacks each combat round, anywhere between +1 (+1) to 10 (+10); I didn't copy down its combat messages (I noted the damage when it was around 16-20 lbs). That extra damage is additional physical. --TW 18:32, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
Appears to attack every round; did similar damage at 11 pounds as TW's spading suggested; the bonus meelee damage seems to match the original damage done. No other effects, so far. --Personal Robot Jesus 04:39, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Whilst underwater, my crab was doing 2-14 damage on first pinch and 2-15 on the second, with the bracketed bonus damage being the same number as the primary damage every time (and always physical). Since he's a 31 lb crab just now, I'd guess he does a max of weight/2 and a minimum of 2. He was acting ever round though, which is nice. At 46lbs, his max damage seemed to be 22 (+22) per claw.
Out of water, damage dropped to between 1 and 10 for both claws even when pushing the weight up to 46 lbs.
No obvious dance/smile/wink end of combat message.--Denarius 19:51, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Resemblance to the FSM
Is it just me, or does the image look a bit like the Flying Spaghetti Monster when drawn in a simple way? Take a look at this: http://www.venganza.org/images/fsmrof.png Maybe that's what he's imitaiting? --Kikas 15:28, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
- I think that's a bit of a stretch, personally. It just looks like a crab. *

- I think that could be a valid reference, as the FSM imitates and mocks other religions, but until we get combat messages, don't put anything up.--Pnan 03:13, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Damage numbers
I've tried looking for variance of attack numbers, but I'm no maths person, so I thought I'd share my numbers with people. All attacks were with a little box of fireworks. If you need to know buffs and equipment etc let me know. I'm new to spading :)

Hope that is useful to someone! MultiMonkey 20:29, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- This and the data I just collected were enough to determine its damage formula and the effect of the whetstone. Added to the page. No other effects noticed so far, though I haven't done any rigorous testing for item drops and what have you. It's a pretty heavily damaging familiar though, at least as far as attack familiars go. --Flargen 06:17, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
- Since it was sort of requested, here's the data I collected:

arena specs
Spaded out its arena specs using the event pages. The results:
- Strong - Ultimate Cage Match
- Average - Obstacle Course, Hide and Seek
- Weak - Scavenger Hunt
- Unable to perform - none

Possible Pop-culture reference?
In the popular flash game "Nick Bounty: A case of the crabs" you find an imitation crab in a crate of what's supposedly crab meat. It's kinda pivotal to the plot of the game and the Nick Bounty games seem like the kind of thing that would interest TPTB. Furthermore, you use the crab to attack your enemies so... I dunno guys... is this reference as clear as day or am I reaching? -JohnDoe244 23:51, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- can be put in the article as "bla-bla-bla could be a reference to bla-bla-bla" IMHO --Hrag 09:56, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
