Talk:It's Always Swordfish
So, I haven't started the Holy McGuffin quest yet, and thus don't have the diary. When I got this adventure I got a different result, where they guy hit me for 57 damage and threw me overboard... --Tiwaz 12:26, 4 December 2007 (CST) It seems like unless you've got the pirate fledges, you'll just get the two adventures - this, and the one you mentioned. Most probably a reference to Terry Pratchett's book Night Watch. --Rincewind 20:06, 4 December 2007 (CST)
- No, that was itself a reference to something else. I seem to think it was either the Marx Brothers, or Abbott and Costello. Something like that. --Rachelkachel 01:52, 5 December 2007 (CST)
- Found it. Marx Brothers. --Rachelkachel 01:56, 5 December 2007 (CST)
- Frankly, I'm upset that you don't have to meatpaste a fish and a sword, as in Horse Feathers. --AltyMcAltAlt 02:33, 5 December 2007 (CST)
- Found it. Marx Brothers. --Rachelkachel 01:56, 5 December 2007 (CST)
The fact that the adventure name is "It's Always Swordfish" would seem to refer to Terry Pratchett's book where that precise joke is made. Yes, Terry Pratchett got it from the Marx Brothers. --Dessalvara 08:33, 5 December 2007 (CST)
There's a theory (Ok it's my theory) that this adventure is guaranteed to show up within N turns of opening the Poop Deck, whether you spend those turns in the Poop Deck or elsewhere. --Jef 09:35, 18 January 2008 (CST)
Depends on relevant diary page being read?
I think this might only occur once you have read the last page of MacGuffin's diary. I spent forty-odd turns (after being assigned the MacGuffin quest) on the Poop Deck and this event didn't come up. I read through the diary and it occurred immediately. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Posca (talk • contribs) on 06:09, 5 June 2008
- Yes, this is known, and is noted as such on The Poop Deck page. How else would you know the password? I suppose maybe that could be made a little clearer, though. --Flargen 01:21, 5 June 2008 (CDT)
