Talk:Items by number

From A KoL Wiki

OMG this page is INSANE! Wow.... what an undertaking... --jin 21:07, 24 May 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

It'd be nice if we could get some columns going on with this too.... --jin 21:22, 24 May 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

Just so no one else starts, I'm actually in the process... I'll do 1-99 first, let me know what else it needs before I go about tablifying the rest. --Snickles 21:26, 24 May 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
  • Wow, not what I was thinking. 3 columns is good, but the left to right listing is a bit involved and hard to read. Make 3 cells, and list 33 items in each one.... --jin 21:38, 24 May 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
  • Ok, guys... 3 columns. I'm going to take a break now. If anyone has comments, leave them here. If no one else wants to table the rest, I'll do it when I get back (with respect to whatever comments are left). I've already got a spreadsheet set up that formats the tables semi-automatically, so it's not a big issue to change it around. Just let me know. ;) --Snickles 21:40, 24 May 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
  • Oh shoot... Ok, I'll whip that up really quick. --Snickles 21:40, 24 May 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
  • Done. Taking a break now. Let me know if you want me to go on and do the rest like that, if no one else pretties 'em up before I get back. --Snickles 21:46, 24 May 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
  • I like them in columns, they're easier to read. Anybody else think there should be one page with a complete list for searching purposes, though?--Yiab 23:33, 24 May 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

Yendor -- Thanks a ton for fixing all the ones I missed. ;) --Snickles 21:49, 24 May 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

I am just absolutely flabbergasted by the comprehensiveness of these pages. Snickles, et al.... Y'all are fuckin' awesome. The 3 columns look better now, and I imagine it's a hell of a lot easier this way. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 --jin 00:09, 25 May 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

Is there anyway that the list can be changed so the item picture can be listed as well? I think this would be an incredible help when people are trying to make Wiki pages. I would be very willing to cut and paste if the format could be changed. --User:Wierd Ali 13:23, 25 June 2005 (Mountain Standard Time)

It's possible, but it would take up a lot more space on the page. I personally like the format now, as each 100-item page fits within a single (or just over) screen. A while back, someone suggested having a seperate page (in addition to these) with a list of all items on it; perhaps that could be implemented, and the items could be listed with corresponding images. --Snickles 17:16, 25 Jun 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

i switched action figure body and action figure head as they were the wrong way round, ive confirmed this recently on an alt, and coldfronts item database also agrees that the correct numbers are 63. action figure body 64. action figure head - User:discordance

How about including how to determine a new item's ID number? --Suraimu 21:45, 19 February 2006 (Central Standard Time)

how?

How do you find out an item's number? --Veszerin

I've started an answer, because I know this is a frequently asked question, and very relevant to this page (and not very to others). I'm hoping others will fill in how to determine the number of items which can't be used, even if the answer is "ask a developer", or "requires much code hacking". Please? Teffania

  • Get to the combine page. Right click, view source. You should see a big list of option tags. You should be able to see something along the lines of <option value=542>1337 7r0uZ0RZ (2)</option>. Obviously, the 542 is the item ID of 1337 7r0uZ0RZ. The combine page is good, 'cause every item in your inventory appears in that dropdown. --Ricket 03:14, 12 July 2006 (CDT)
  • Obviously any item which you can eat/drink/use/etc. from your inventory has its item number embedded in the link. You can also use the above method on any item dropdown, store/case/stash/closet/etc., but certain types of items are left out of particular lists, like quest items do not show up in the list of things to put in the closet anymore, untradable items do not show up in the kmail dropdown etc., so using the combine dropdown is usually easier, especially for quest items. You can also usually get nums from purchasable items from their associated radio button the same way, like in the mall, or for NPC stores. Also, an item's hash is found in the url of each item's description page. --JRSiebz (|§|) 19:39, 12 July 2006 (CDT)

Uh-oh

Now that the way meatpasting works has been changed, it will be impossible to determine the IDs of any future quest item that can't be consumed, combined, used, or equipped. D'oh.--GoldS 23:30, 7 February 2008 (CST)

  • Don't worry, GoldS. I've got one way, as long as stuff actually gets pushed out. --Ricket 23:39, 7 February 2008 (CST)
    • I would like to say "Hooray." So I will. Hooray.--GoldS 23:42, 7 February 2008 (CST)
  • Plus, isn't there the guy who runs the jickenwings database? Several impossible plurals were found through the data dumps. --Flargen 23:43, 7 February 2008 (CST)
    • Yeah, there's that too. Someone should really poke whoever is in charge of that, and get the rest of the missing plurals. <.< --Ricket 05:55, 8 February 2008 (CST)

Custom

How do we know the numbers for custom items? Only one person has it, did they check themselves? Like, Xlyinia's custom item has 1002. How do we know that? --Starguy 01:32, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Text listing?

Does anybody know a place where we can get a text document with the current list of all items in game and their numbers? I'm trying to use mall pricing data retrieved by mafia to track the market, but it doesn't list item names, only numbers.

If there is such a listing perhaps we should link to it? --Silent Knight 00:33, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

marketplace

  • if the item's in the mall you can guess the number like this strange helix fossil. Which is obvious but no one does. i'm on the train or I'd update it. --Evilkolbot (talk) 16:45, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
