Talk:Jermery's Permery
So is it possible to perm/upgrade more than one skill per ascension? Judging by the info so far, every other karma item is limited to one per ascension. If you can't perm more than one skill with the extra karma from special runs, there doesn't seem to be much of a point. --PC_Goldman 13:00, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
It seems you earn 200 base karma from a HC run, which you could use to regular perm 2 skills. (Though it's probably faster to do 2 regular runs and use that karma.) --Rikastley 15:38, 17 May (UTC)
- Or discard extra instant karma to get enough karma to perm extra skill(s) in a run. Either way, this needs confirmation that it is possible. I tend to think it is but I'm not in a position to ascend either of my characters (one doing a slime tube and the other is working on the TT nemesis trophy). --PC_Goldman 14:48, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
- Here's me hardcore-perming two already softcore-permed skills. Maybe this answers some questions: Beliar Lightbearer in Jermery's Permery--Beliar Lightbearer 04:46, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Is it possible to make a skill Hardcore permanent without ever entering Hardcore (i.e. by doing 2 Normal runs and saving up the experience)? If so, the Notes section could be simplified - 100 points to upgrade "Learned" to "Permanent" and 100 points to upgrade "Permanent" to "Hardcore Permanent". --Quietust (t|c) 00:23, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
- The interface before I selected a skill today made it look like I could upgrade to HC perm my soft core skills. I'm betting you can. And I'm betting you can upgrade two soft core skills to HC after an HC run, which will make HC skills progress a lot faster for someone like me who has many softcore ascensions. And if you do casual you still earn some karma, although less, so in theory it looks like you can HC perm skills with only casual ascensions. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 22:53, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- This is how it works, yes. I permed 2 skills as Softcore last run, coming out of a Hardcore run. In theory, I can do 6 HCNP DB runs, perm nothing while banking Karma, then do 6 casual runs as each class, HC perming a skill as I go along. I can also upgrade my first non-HC run perm from SC to HC.--Erich 05:56, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
SC -> HC Upgrade Limitations
I just ascended and noticed that several permed softcore skills aren't being listed here, just the ones I had re-obtained during my run. Are you limited to HC upgrading skills you re-obtained? Does the option to make available all your skills (under the account menu) get around this? --Grimdel 23:41, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- Yes and yes. --Flargen 00:10, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
- Wait, does that make sense? I get softcore skills back after prism, so I need to buy them again even if I already have them (soft and not hardcore)? Also I had some trouble with Iron Palm (seal clubber): got it soft last ascension, didn't show up to be HC permed this time around (turtle tamer). Is this the show/hide problem or a class specific problem? --Golemyeti 17:33, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- Counter example: After my last ascension (softcore), I made one new skill SC perm (ravioli shirkens) and upgraded one existing skill HC perm (Inigo's Inspiration). I didn't relearn Inigo's. And the ascension prior to that I HC upgraded a different SC permed skill that I had not relearned. Are you perhaps doing HC ascensions? Maybe there is an issue with those. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 18:14, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- I only do hardcore ascensions. If you have a skill that's currently just P and you want to upgrade it to HP, you have to acquire it through recalling memories. Or otherwise relearning it. Your softcore perms won't show up at the permery currently if you don't recall them. Softcore doesn't have this problem since they have all of their skills by default; only hardcore runs lock you out of certain skills. --Flargen 19:23, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- Was typing almost the same thing as you at the same time :P. It is worth noting that Jick has said he wants to change it so that in non-BM hardcore ascensions, you automatically recall your skills when you break the prism, he just hasn't done it yet. --CheezyBob 19:26, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- Okay this is almost a complete answer for me (thanks!). I also have only done HC runs, this is the first time I've P permed a skill. I suppose I just assumed that I got my SC skills after prism. What's all this recall/memory stuff now? --Golemyeti 03:58, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- My understanding is that, if you wish to upgrade a previously softcore permed skill to Hardcore Permanent (HP) while in Hardcore, you MUST invoke the Recall Ancestral Memories option from your Options - Account section. This grants you access to softcore-permed skills so that you can upgrade them. --Wrldwzrd89 10:30, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll look for this in a day or so when I finish my next run. Thanks. --Golemyeti 18:52, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

ir dumb
- can you recall ancestral memories after you've got to the permery?
- if i do a very inept hcbhy, how much karma will i have? --Evilkolbot 21:49, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- I don't think you can at the moment.
- 200 karma for hardcore, 100 karma for BHY. 300 karma in total. (Plus the 11 for saving the King).--Toffile 22:02, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
Limits?
- People in chat are asserting that there's a limit of 5 permed skills per ascension no matter how much karma you've banked. Can anyone confirm/deny this, and if it's true, grab the relevant text? --billybobfred (talk) 02:20, 15 November 2014 (UTC)
