Inventory Options
Anyone else notice the [unequip] and [examine] links in the inventory change their distance apart when you're working out the light-ring puzzle? --Godspeed (talk) 09:56, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
222222
To make it easy, if you're not up on base 3:
222222 = 10201+10201+101+101+101+101+1+1
--"Your reason is treason" - Kasabian (talk) 20:29, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
- If you just want to get to 222222 you do not need to actually add numbers that correct sum to the exact value, just keep pressing the +10010 (+102013) button and it maxes out at 2222223 --Fig bucket (talk) 23:59, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
- Fig bucket's trick should definitely be on the page, on the "splendid martini" bullet and/or the "tabs" bullet dealing with splendid martinis. Does the hit-it-until-it-maxes work with any button? I pressed the left button eight times and it hit all longs, but because I'm terrible at math I can't tell whether I just happened to pick the +10010.--Alianoraree (talk) 23:22, 28 June 2017 (UTC)
- It would work with any button that does something starting from 0 (no tabs), but if you're hitting the +1 or +1010 button then it will take much longer---in regular base-10 values you're counting up to 728 by either 100s (8 presses gets you there), or 10s (73 presses), or 1s (728 presses). So it's worth finding the +10010 button for sure.
- Here's a table of an optimal strategy for finding the +10010 button. It assumes you start from the 0-value ( ), and press a different button each time until you figure out which one is +10010 (or you have only one button left of course).
- Note that the left-to-right ordering of these tabs is randomized for each person/ascension, so you're really looking to see which tabs are missing, short or tall after each button press. The "... (X)" means the situation repeats starting from the X sequence. --Fig bucket (talk) 16:09, 30 June 2017 (UTC)

- It's actually much simpler than that. Starting from a clean slate (no tabs appearing), press each button once, one at a time. If a button press results in three tabs changing, that is your +100 button. Press that button 7 more times and your tabs are at 222222.--RogerMexico (talk) 02:58, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
100 turn buff tab
One of the tabs give 100 turns of an effect instead of 50 turns. I don't see this on the page. With all tabs at "long" it seems you get 100 turns of each effect but I'm not sure if this is randomized each day or not. And at what point does the 100 turn effect replace the 50 turn effect for the tab? --"Your reason is treason" - Kasabian (talk) 03:54, 1 November 2017 (UTC) The 100 turn buff seems to be based on the ring state. With all tabs set to 2 but no rings showing I only get the normal 50 turn buff. djve 22 January 2018
Update: When the outer ring is available one of the long tabs (randomized) will give a 100 turn buff. The buff is different each click. I have the ring flashing this run so I don't know if it also works when the ring is stable, if the second ring is an issue, etc. The tab is different. The first time I noticed this it was tab 5, this time it's tab 2. --"Your reason is treason" - Kasabian (talk) 03:58, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
- Oh, the page doesn't go into this. I just updated the page with the info I have on how the tabs work. Copying:
- The buff granted by a tab is always the same one, determined randomly per ascension, but depends on whether the tab is short or long. For example, if tab #1 grants 50 turns of Items Are Forever when long, then it will always grant 50 turns of Items Are Forever when long for the current ascension. If you change it to being short, then it will grant a different buff, but it will always grant that buff when short. Both of these are re-randomized when you ascend.
- One tab setting will instead grant 100 turns of a random buff instead of 50 turns of a fixed buff.
- Does this help? --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 18:08, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
Possibly. Does the tab have to be long? Does the outer circle have to be visible? I've only noticed the 100 turn buff when the tab is long AND the outer circle is visible. --"Your reason is treason" - Kasabian (talk) 05:10, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
Fastest Re-enable Path
- . Click left and right button (order not important).
- . Set all dial to zero [works for any value if it is the same for all 6 buttons]:
- .Set handle down and click either button.
- . Set handle up and click either button.
- . Set dials to 012(left) and 210(right) and click either button. [Works for any palindrome of 3 unique numbers.]
- . Set one dial to 222 and click that side's button. [Or any value not zero which is the same, i.e.: 111,222,333 all work but be consistent for both dials.]
- . Set the "222" dial to anything else and set other dial to "222" (or what you used on the first dial) and click that side's button.
Horizontal Lights 4,5, and 6
- Light #1: left and right actuator.
- Light #2: mastermind solution.
- Light #3: Light ring number
Once the tabs are moving most actions cause the tabs to decrease by -1 but some seem to have a bigger effect. This includes refreshing using the chat command "/go kgb". Do not do this in KoLMafia as the screen doesn't refresh correctly.
The 6 buttons have their values remapped after the tabs start moving.
Going to zero on all tabs stops movement and you need to go back to the goal number to get the moving tabs back. There is no message when this state is reached.
Turning the crank 8 times with the handle down gives the message: "The capacitor inside the case seems to be at maximum charge."
To get the lights to blink:
- Light #4: Handle up. One of the 6 buttons sets the state. It's always the +100 button.
- Light #5: Handle down, Jacob's ladder up, crank 3 times.
- Light #6: Got it to blink, no idea why.
On reset the buttons did not change but the goal number did and after reaching the goal the buttons remapped.
