Talk:La Bamba

From A KoL Wiki

It says that you only feel like a gravy fairy "A very, very little bit." Perhaps it has an item drop modifier, but only an insignificant one. If so, how do you test?--Gils 07:51, 5 May 2007 (CDT)

  • Adventure with no item drop modifiers except for La Bamba at the Beanbat Burrow. Enchanted bean drops are exactly 50%. If after a significant number of adventures you get a higher amount than what 50% should be, you have discovered the percentage. --Alnek 19:10, 5 May 2007 (CDT)
    • Given that you only get 5 turns of this per day, this would either take a very long time to spade, or it would require a very large number of people testing it. --Quietust (t|c) 19:19, 5 May 2007 (CDT)
      • I disagree with Quietust, can't this be done in a bit more exact manner by boosting the item drop percentage to maybe 95% and then seeing if the drops occur 100% of the time? If they do, then lower the item drop bonuses slowly down to see when the drops cease happening all the time. --Egs 01:35, 6 May 2007 (CDT)
        • This would probably only work in an area with a well-known, high-probability drop item. If it was done in the Beanbat Chamber, getting a 95% drop rate would mean +90% item drops, and getting that to 100% would require that La Bamba give +10% item drops. If La Bamba has a modifier of +2.5% item drops, then the pre-effect drop rate would have to be 98.75%. It would take a decent number of adventures to be sure that the item isn't actually going to drop. Lostcalpolydude 03:42, 6 May 2007 (CDT)
          • I think all we need is an organized way of presenting data. if everyone spent 5 adventures in the chamber, and organized it into a chart like Talk:Mr. Klaw "Skill" Crane Game, we might get somewhere. You know, we could replace the stuffies with percentages, and note if we got a bean every time or not.--CG1:t,c,e 07:54, 6 May 2007 (CDT)
            • For what it's worth, I'd guess that this was a +1% modifier. It just seems like what it feels it should be. --Drab Emordnilap 09:40, 6 May 2007 (CDT)
              • That's exactly what I was thinking when I first saw this as well. --sl1me 19:25, 6 May 2007 (CDT)
                • My suggestion would be to not use adventures for around a week, only La Bambaing and stocking up around 50 turns of it. If many people do this, it would give a large sample space to work with. --MrAndersonMan 07:32, 14 May 2007 (CDT)
                  • If someone had multiple sombreros could they use the effect multiple times? It was originally tradable - does anyone have multiple sombreros to try it out? -- bobidden
                    • No, you can only use it once, regardless of the number of sombreros you have. --sl1me 23:34, 8 August 2007 (CDT)
                      • And if not for that, I would have helped spade this thing out a long time ago, since I've got 10 otherwise utterly useless sombreros. Hossenfeffer 20:17, 5 September 2007 (CDT)

  • I would recommend at least 100 adventures (preferably 200 or more) at a given item drop boost before we conclude that the item drops 100% of the time.--Yiab 10:42, 8 May 2007 (CDT)
