Deals

I got 29 nickels in 117 adventures while one-hit overkilling hoboes in Town Square, which is a deal rate close to 25%.--MogamboRanger 16:26, 3 March 2012 (CET)

Apparently the familiar can make deals with hobos even when it is stomped into pastes by using the skill "Release the Boots". Just something interesting to point out. --Xiexingwu 06:46, 10 December 2011 (CET)

In experimenting with this Li'l Businessman Kit on my Jitterbug,I have successfully brokered a deal with a hot hobo which resulted in extra hobo nickel. (that is two in one adventure)

"You acquire an item: hobo nickel
Maxie Ford brokers a quick deal, and splits the profits with you.
You acquire an item: hobo nickel"

I have not been able to get a deal anywhere else thus far; possibly because I one shot creatures anywhere else in the kingdom. --Chica 13:26, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

  • So far the only other way to get two nickels out of a hobo is with a mayfly swarm. I wonder if the deals will match the extra items mayflies can get. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 00:26, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
    • Well, I've tried the businessman kit on slime tube monsters and on bean counters with no mayfly-swarm-like results. I only did about 20adv of each, so if it is really infrequent that's not very conclusive. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 20:09, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
      • I have been adventuring with the kit equipped for my regular adventures (bounties, ducks and castle giants) without another deal. The mechanics on this one seem like their gonna take awhile (and a few more people).--Chica 20:00, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
        • I ascended soft-core yesterday, and have been using the Kit for all of my adventures. I haven't noticed any deals (just reached level 8 today). Didn't help me get bus passes, cans of imp air, or evil eyes to speed things along. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 20:48, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
  • Perhaps it works for monsters that drop currency like tokens. Has anyone tried this on the Battlefield to get beads from hippies and rings from frats? --Bale 22:32, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
    • It does work on undersea creatures, and you can get sand dollars that way. It does not work on Battlefield monsters however.--Foggy 19:16, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
    • It doesn't work on Yeti Furs, the only other currency mentioned on the Meat page which is currently dropped by monsters. --DanielH 03:46, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
    • Tried with old coin purse and old leather wallet...no go. Tried with ancient vinyl coin purse...no go.--Foggy 16:10, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
  • My friend Cheese and I (and probably many others) have observed this working on normal hobos both when overkilled and when killed normally. Perhaps that should be added to the main page. --DanielH 02:39, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
  • The chance of making a deal increases the more rounds the fight lasts. Made 1 deal every 2 combats lasting 5 rounds vs normal hoboes, 5 in 40 for 2 round fights vs cold hoboes. --Arck 07:29, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
    • Rounds when the hobo is stunned don't count. --Arck 07:42, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
      • Delete of last two comments just reverted. Arck's delete description was "Doesn't seem to be the case after further spading." --Club (#66669) (Talk) 18:25, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

In other words, the hobo nickels and sand dollars only come from Hobopolis and underwater adventures, respectively. Right? Shouldn't that be in the article, so people don't go adventuring in The "FUN" House for sand dollars, or Cobb's Knob for hobo nickels? --StorellaDeville 23:24, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

Has anyone mentioned yet that this extra nickel can still be had even when the hobo is overkilled?--R00k 06:37, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Yes they have. But has it been tested with Lunar Isotopes?--Gearge 07:56, 28 June 2011 (CEST)

  • I spent 12 turns at the shield generator deliberately stringing combats out to over 5 rounds, and no deals were made. --Noskilz 03:10, 15 October 2011 (CEST)

I added data on the "drop" rate I obtained while farming hobo nickels. I also noticed that, out of 82 wandering combats (holiday elfs and romantic mimes) I had in Hobopolis, not a single one ended with a nickel drop. Are we sure you can get sand dollars from wandering monsters while in the Sea? —Dentarthurdent 02:48, 20 December 2012 (CET)

Message

I got one of these today, here's the paragraph that preceded it (whole message available):

My dad gave me this -- I told him I wanted a sword and shield kit so I could grow up to be an Adventurer, but he said that was stupid and childish and that there was no future in it. Anyway, this is dumb and boring and you can have it.

Sunken Party Yacht

Confirmed that Businessman Kit will drop sand dollars in the Sunken Party Yacht.--digitrev (talk) 13:05, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

Other Currencies

During the July 3, 2014 radio show (around 18 minutes in) Jick talked about how he don't sees the need to make this item as good as the Mayfly bait necklace (an iotm), so we probably won't see any more Currencies added to this. Because talk on the radio is more of a conceptual thing that rules set in stone, I'll leave it on the talk page here for people who muse about this topic. Have a nice evening. --Yatsufusa (talk) 23:15, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
