Talk:Magnetic sculpture kit
Just for the people wondering why no one so far uploaded pictures of magnetic sculptures: They aren't stored as complete pictures, but rather as single pixels (1-10) and a base that seem to get arranged on the page by a script. So far I have seen a Chinese character in a frame, a (hovering) space invader and the TARDIS. I have no idea if those players thought up the designs themselves or if they come pre-compiled. None of those players had a pumpkin in his profile in addition, which makes me wonder if those two are mutually exclusive. --Yatsufusa 02:30, 7 December 2012 (CET)
- I'm not sure if you can make your own (forum suggests yes, absolutely), but I know it replaces the pumpkin — Cool12309 (talk) 03:11, 7 December 2012 (CET)
- I just added a note on how this works. I'm not sure how to show the actual interface on the page. --Prestige 03:40, 7 December 2012 (CET)
You get prompted if you want to replace your previous profile decoration before you actually started to build your new magnetic sculpture. Does your old profile decoration get removed the moment you click the Create New Art button or do you get to keep your old artwork when you cancel the sculpture in progress? (I'd like to try out some designs first to see how they come across before I abandon my nifty pumpkin.) --Yatsufusa 22:05, 1 January 2013 (CET)
- Your pumpkin gets replaced when you actually install the new art.--Club (#66669) (Talk) 23:54, 3 January 2013 (CET)
display of image
- displaying images in infoboxes to the right is non-standard. should it be? i have a feeling that the image should be inline with the text in the same way the huge pumpkin is. is there text displayed when you click "Install New Art"? --Evilkolbot 13:41, 7 December 2012 (CET)
- Well, I was feeling greedy and didn't install it, but clicked away and sold it in the mall for 133k. So I don't know if there is a message (yet). I also see this as just a placeholder until we build a real one with tables and pixels images. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 17:54, 7 December 2012 (CET)
Here's a first stab at a table. (It's supposed to be the Coldfront icon. Ask me about my perl script to turn xpm images into magnetic art wiki tables.) Looks slightly wider here than in-game.
(edit: replaced table with one that includes pixel sizes. Club (#66669) (Talk) 02:27, 12 December 2012 (CET))

And there is a message when you install it. Here's the one for someone without an existing bit of profile art:
- You place the statue on your profile.

Remote Forms
This item is subject to fun misuse with remote forms. KingFelix (#614504) pointed this out to me, so I created an Arkanoid themed piece. POST to /inv_use.php with pwd, whichitem, and set parameters. The set value the pixels with magnets, in row,col format, space separated. So with space encoded as plus, set=0,0+14,0+14,0+14,14 would be the four corners. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 01:14, 15 December 2012 (CET)
0,0 being top left corner. Did mine upside down lol Eclipse4227 10:10, 20 December 2012 (CET)
uxux.org/magnetic[1] is a tool for designing the sculpture and generating the remote form syntax. --Thacon 16:23, 4 January 2013 (CET)
- If you wrote that, can I make a suggestion? Instead of (or in addition to) just generating a link, generate an HTML form that has a PWD text input. Or does the game check referrers? --Club (#66669) (Talk) 20:04, 4 January 2013 (CET)
