Talk:Manual of Labor

From A KoL Wiki

I think it's safe to assume, only muscle class characters get this? --Floh

for not liking that show jick and team sure use a lot of rocky stuff. manual labor is normally hard work, and frank tells brad and janet that rocky thinks dynamic tention is hardwork. now someone with wiki skills turn that into front page news or what have ya --LoA 13:15, 24 January 2007 (CST)

I was sort of thinking that this was heavy RHPS reference also, which leads me to believe that the Manual will only work for 7 days....so waiting to see if that pans out. .--Pixsi 09:27, 25 January 2007 (EST)

"Dynamic Tension" is another Charles Atlas reference according to Wikipedia.--Sakurabisu 13:21, 24 January 2007 (CST)

Just a quick question, I noticed I can use the Manual of Labor at The Plunger, anyone know what it combines with, or does anyone have any theories? Edit: Ok, sorry, didn't realize since I had so few items after rollover --Synergistic 07:48, 25 January 2007 (CST)

  • ALL items show up in the combine list, whether in your inventory or at The Plunger, so this doesn't tell us anything. --Quietust (t|c) 08:34, 25 January 2007 (CST)

Stat Gain Values/Formula

Moved the following from page to talk: --JRSiebz (|§|) 04:02, 24 January 2007 (CST)

An Item, seems to give 20 muscle substats when used, It could be able to be used daily, but is still under dispute as after the update, no rollover has happened
Used it for the second time (first time was 20 musc sub stats) and got 40 musc sub-stats. L6 HCO SC.--Dangerousdan 02:00, 25 January 2007 (CST)
Using it for the third day in a row -
"You read the Manual of Labor, and your muscles swell with new-found knowledge.
You gain 100 Strongness.
You gain some Muscle points!"
Seems to blow both the linear and geometric progression out of the water!--Dangerousdan 21:58, 25 January 2007 (CST)
Putting in the data we have sofar in my calculator and letting it guess the formula gives the following: Substatgain = 20*X^2 - 40*X + 40, where X is the amount of uses, the r^2-value for this formula is exactly 1 indicating a perfect fit sofar... This would predict 200 for the 4th use and 340 for the 5th... On the other hand that would get out of control pretty fast so I guess there will be some kind of cap sooner or later... We'll see what happens tomorrow :) --Winterbay 06:54, 26 January 2007 (CST)

Can confirm that it gives 20 muscle substat. Received after Lvl 8 TT received and completed quest in Ruins given by Seal Clubber in Guild. --TDG 04:59, 24 January 2007 (CST)

I have a pretty strong feeling that this is just a set number of stats, like the meat globe or bonerdagon chest, except that you can only drain it gradually over a period of a few days to prevent it from being a key part of speed ascending. Time will tell, I suppose. I also categorized this part of the talk for the hell of it. Whee! --sl1me 07:27, 26 January 2007 (CST)

Yes probably. Todays 40 adventures pretty much throws any normal formula other then a periodic out of the window... SO unless it is a Sin(x) or something it will probably take a random number from a fixed set of available ones... --Winterbay 12:46, 27 January 2007 (CST)

So far it's done 20, 40, 100, 40, 20... By information on the other manuals, it is based on number of uses, not moons or day. I'm going to predict that it only works five times, or it constantly goes along the same wave from 20 to 100. Seeing as the latter would make it vastly significant to hardcore players, my bet is on limited use. --Spaz102

    Boo, I was right. :( --Spaz102

Question guys: After ascending, (and exhausting the manual of labor) on this ascension, the first time I read it, I got **30** muscle stats. Could the overall stat gain increase with number of ascensions while using it? I'll keep you guys posted on my stat gains. --Dante5454 13:08, 4 February 2007 (CST)

No. Today (Feb. 4th) is a muscle day. Thus, you got 20, but the fact that it's a stat day increased your gains by 1.5. --MagiNinjA 15:31, 4 February 2007 (CST)

Ahh yes, of course. Sorry bout that guys.--Dante5454 14:59, 5 February 2007 (CST)
