Talk:Maple magnet
From A KoL Wiki
According to the forums, this can be used to find certain items in certain areas that can unlock new recipes. The wheres and hows are still being spaded, and some of the items have only been discovered after being zapped by the polymorph wand.--Tombot (talk) 15:09, 7 August 2020 (UTC)
Dripping wood
It stands to reason that the dripping wood should come from the Dripping trees, but nobody seems to have it yet.--Tombot (talk) 23:36, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
- From today's Trivial Updates: "The drop code for a hidden lathe item that was previously not hooked up is now hooked up. Sorry for the delayed hooking." --Baltar (talk) 00:16, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
- Testing now, and it doesn't seem to drop from the noncombat adventure. I'll see if it's an aftercombat like the rest.--Tombot (talk) 00:26, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
- 45 adventure's worth so far for me and no drop, but it seems to have been confirmed real. The tough part is going to be getting the message--Tombot (talk) 01:54, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
- Just went through another 25 adventures worth. Either something is bugged or the drop chances are unchanged from the others.--Tombot (talk) 22:30, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
- i did 25 yesterday and today and no joy. if this is like the other areas then this is to be expected. the fact that there's only one in the mall suggests it's not like the others, though. more spading, perhaps 200 turns in a single day? --Evilkolbot (talk) 22:33, 14 August 2020 (UTC)

Frequency
Do we know whether the maple magnet can trigger more than once per day? If so, does the chance diminish each time? --Baltar (talk) 01:57, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
- Can definitely activate more than once per day. Jury still out on frequency: first time was around 15 adventures, second time was at least 50 adventures later --Baltar (talk) 02:04, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
- anecdata: 100 for first trigger for me yesterday, --Evilkolbot (talk) 12:09, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- today, 163 turns in the jungles of ancient loathing with +100% item drops. tomorrow with -100%. --Evilkolbot (talk) 12:34, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- If it takes that many adventures on average, it might explain why nobody has got the dripping wood yet.--Tombot (talk) 16:12, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- The flimsy thing was reported as dropping from the drip noncom. This would seem to be a bug. Maybe it's not working... --Evilkolbot (talk) 16:26, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

- More anecdata: first drop today in The Jungles of Ancient Loathing at around 19 adventures or so. (I know it was 20 or less, because I had used only two bottles.) No second drop thus far. --Baltar (talk) 19:18, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- hmm. My data, and that from the forums that isn't you suggests that the drop percentage is less than 1%. Your data points at 20%. The sample sets are too small, true. Seems that something else is going on. As ever, more spading needed. --Evilkolbot (talk) 15:19, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- Ah, that's probably it. I definitely had pumped up +item drop. For some reason I figured this was a special drop that wouldn't be affected by it. --Baltar (talk) 19:23, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- (100/20 is 20, right?) a long association with this game would seem to imply that special drops aren't affected. if in this case they are then that would explain it. i'll do 200 turns in the jungle with -items, just to see. how much +items were you running? --Evilkolbot (talk) 11:50, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
- first one after ~35 turns with the magnet equipped and -20% items. so, one per cent drop unaffected by +items. big swings in small sample sets. --Evilkolbot (talk) 12:49, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
- and another one (unchanged setup) four turns later. ffs. is only the first one hard? --Evilkolbot (talk) 12:28, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
- 60 turns... --Evilkolbot (talk) 12:33, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
