Talk:McMillicancuddy's Farm

From A KoL Wiki

I wikipedia'd and googled for both McGillicuddy and McGillicutty and couldn't find either mentioned as a brand of liquor. Am I just missing it? I saw some names of mixed drinks, but even those were pretty low google-ranked. I've heard the term McGillicuddy's (though I always heard it as McGillicutty's, never seeing it in writing), but have no memory of what it's associated to. --Degrassi 15:07, 3 July 2007 (CDT)

Responding to myself - I found it. Pretty obscure company (I think) - with a non-alcohol family growing up I wonder where I heard the name from. Odd. It helped with a "Dr." at the front of the name. --Degrassi 15:13, 3 July 2007 (CDT)

I was drinking Dr. McGillicuddy's mentholmint schnapps when NS13 rolled out, I love the name. --Plater 19:31, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

Is McGillancuddy a direct reference to liquor or is it just a generic farmer name? --Telis R 07:37, 12 July 2007 (CDT)

Dr. McGillicuddy is very popular where I live -Northern New England, U.S.. People generally ask for a "shot of doctor" or "the doctor". It's syrupy and gross, unlike Rumplemintz. --Snikrepkire 11:40, 26 September 2007 (CDT)

Finishing this quest does what now?

Obviously finishing this quest contributes to killing frat boys/hippies faster on the battlefield, but I'm wondering if it benefits you in any other way, as doing the arena quest gives you buffs, or doing the convent quest gives you healing. --Kazim 10:17, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

  • It seems that you can't do anything else on the farm during the war, but the side you finish as affects how many ducks you can return to kill each day after the war is over.

Sub-Area Names

Half of the pages for sub-areas are "McMillicancuddy's" and half are just "The". Is there an in-game distinction, or is this just wiki cleanup to be done? If it's just cleanup, which way do we want? --Jonrock 16:27, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

Quest Rewards

If you beat the quest as a hippy, Hippy Army MPEs will ALWAYS have a block of supertofu in them.

If you beat the quest as a frat, Frat Army FGF's (or whatever the acronym was) will ALWAYS have a bottle of McMillicanCuddy's Special Lager in them.

Both items can be cooked with other items in the meals, but the Lager can also be mixed with whiskey for a boilermaker.--Lauren zi an wormhole 19:47, 10 July 2007 (CDT)

Switching Sides

If you beat the quest for one side...you can just change your uniform, talk to McMillicanCuddy again, and the game will act like you beat the quest for the other side!

This could be useful for shifting the balance if you want to fight for both sides, but you could also make sure you get the special items from each side's rations.--Lauren zi an wormhole 19:52, 10 July 2007 (CDT)

wtf does this have to do with I Love Lucy? --P4n1q 03:13, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

  • I didn't add that line, but I do associate the name with the show. Possibly you have to have seen enough of the episodes in reruns...--Club (#66669) (Talk) 18:35, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
    • So every single time the name ever comes up, it's automatically a reference to the show? It's not like the name was made up just for the show. It's a real name that existed prior to I Love Lucy being a tv show. There is absolutely zero reason to believe that the name is a reference to I Love Lucy.--P4n1q 21:03, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
