Talk:Object Detection
Does anyone else here think that the bang icon used in Object Detection, aside from the obvious "It's 'cuz it's a bang potion effect!", is a reference to the guards in the Metal Gear series of games?--LoopyChew 03:31, 28 January 2006 (Central Standard Time)
In Nethack, this effect this is named after allowed you to detect money, too (since it was an object), I wonder if this increases both item and meat drops? --Rikmach 20:20, 28 January 2006 (Central Standard Time)
Base drop rate for enchanted beans = 50%.
800 adventures at beanbats with object detection on yielded 448 beans, a 12% improvement over the base rate. --Hellion 14:21, 4 April 2006 (CDT)
- This isn't enough data to fix it down to 12.5%... was there additional data you didn't note here? --Starwed 21:20, 6 May 2007 (CDT)
- As noted in the HCO forum thread about temporary blindness, no. 800 adventures is all I did. I can certainly crank out a few hundred (or thousand) more, though. --Hellion 00:52, 7 May 2007 (CDT)
What's the deal with the percentage in the notes being changed and changed back and all? --Alpaca (T/C) 12:27, 31 July 2006 (CDT)
Data collection
Additional data collection here:
800 adv: 448 beans 310 adv: 176 beans 180 adv: 89 beans 300 adv: 153 beans 196 adv: 104 beans 199 adv: 111 beans 173 adv: 97 beans 167 adv: 87 beans 166 adv: 88 beans 163 adv: 92 beans --- 2654 adv: 1445 beans
That's a modified drop rate of 0.5445, or a bonus of 8.9%, overall. Which means we should probably change this rate to 10%. --Hellion 16:01, 17 May 2007 (CDT)
- Although Hellion's data clearly indicates a drop rate of 10%, we have two reports of beans not dropping with a base 90% bonus in addition to Object Detection. That clearly indicates it being less than 10%. If anyone wants to help sort this out, please visit the HCO thread.--Starwed 11:08, 6 June 2007 (CDT)
