Archiving old content

Hey guys, I'm thinking we should archive the old page for historical purposes under "Pasta Guardians." It appears that almost everything about these guys has changed, including how they're summoned, how they level up, and what some of them do. --Prestige (talk) 09:09, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

  • Thank you for doing exactly that. What I don't understand is, why the original Pasta Guardians page has been renamed and pretty much completely overwritten. That makes no sense to me. I would have preferred for both pages to have a page history that makes sense... --Yatsufusa (talk) 19:12, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Regarding Missing Thralls (Guardians)

So whatever became of the Bow-Tie Bat and Bobba Fettucini? I also noticed that the old summoning items are now fed to your thrall (if you have one,) but what happens if a Pastamancer uses a twitching trigger finger without an active thrall?--Mike Antleg III (talk) 18:35, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

  • Maybe there are quests for those that simply haven't been wiki'd yet. --Yatsufusa (talk) 19:00, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
    • Ah... Or not... Or at least not yet: Gemelli's forum post. So I guess we'll just wait and see what the future brings. --Yatsufusa (talk) 19:37, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

I don't know what the spaghetti elemental's lvl5 perk is, but it hasn't blocked an opponent's first attack against me yet. If that's the power, it's definitely not an automatic thing.--Noskilz (talk) 00:09, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

Thrall Experience Levels and Ascension

Do Pasta Thralls retain their levels when you ascend, or are they reset to level one like your familiars?--Mike Antleg III (talk) 16:20, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

I haven't tried it, but I'd wager pretty much anything that they reset to level one. --Pilomotor (talk) 17:07, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

Indeed they do. --Baltar (talk) 23:21, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

Thrall Leveling System

I've been counting the number of combats necessary to level up a thrall. It seems to take 10 wins to go from level 1 to 2, 15 additional wins to go from 2 to 3, 25 wins to go from 3 to 4, 30 wins to go from 4 to 5, and 40 wins to go from 5 to 6. It can't be expressed with a simple math formula like before. I've also noticed that the experimental carbon fiber pasta additive can't be used on a thrall that just reached level 9. --Pilomotor (talk) 16:41, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

After further testing, I've concluded that the number of combats necessary to level up a thrall is as follows: 10, 15, 25, 30, 40, 40, 40, 50, 50. The pasta additive seems to have added 30 points to a level 7 thrall, but I haven't ruled out the possibility that it may depend on the thrall's current level. --Pilomotor (talk) 16:46, 17 November 2013 (UTC)

The experimental carbon fiber pasta additive brings a brand-new thrall up to level 3, and another 20 combats brings it to level 4. I'm fairly certain the additive adds a flat 30 points. --Pilomotor (talk) 02:27, 19 November 2013 (UTC)

Some tests:

  • Elbow Macaroni; immediately after it hit lvl 2, used quasi-ethereal macaroni fragments. Hit lvl 3 after 5 more fights.
  • Elbow Macaroni; immediately after it hit lvl 3, used quasi-ethereal macaroni fragments. Hit lvl 4 after 15 more fights.
  • Elbow Macaroni; immediately after it hit lvl 5, used pasta additive. Hit lvl 6 after 9? (possibly 10; I may have miscounted) more fights.
  • Elbow Macaroni; immediately after it hit lvl 6, used paranormal ricotta. Hit lvl 7 after 30 more fights.
  • Elbow Macaroni; immediately after it hit lvl 7, used pasta additive. Hit lvl 8 after 10 more fights.
  • Vampieroghi starting at lvl 1 with 0 experience. Used shimmering tendrils and instantly hit lvl 2. Then, hit lvl 3 after 15 fights.
  • Vampieroghi; immediately after it hit lvl 3, used 2 crumbling rat skulls. Hit lvl 4 after 5 more fights.
  • Vampieroghi; lvl 4 to 5 took 30 fights.

Conclusions: If the experience stats Pilomotor posted above are correct (and it seems they are) then pasta additive does add 30 experience, and the other drops each add 10 experience. Note that the macaroni fragments matched the thrall type, but that didn't seem to make a difference.

By the way, the smoking talon still drops, even though the Bow Tie Bat is no more. Also, during the level 6 trial, I had a familiar experience bonus running, which apparently didn't affect the thrall (not that anybody probably expected it to.) --Prestige (talk) 08:52, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

I was able to successfully use the experimental carbon fiber pasta additive on a level 9 thrall that was only 29 points away from level 10. Earlier, I tried using the additive on a thrall that had just reached level 9, and it gave me the message appropriate for level 10 thralls. I'm now assuming that was a bug that has since been fixed. --Pilomotor (talk) 17:26, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

Images

As you can see, jick and co love to be consistent. See my user page for all the images, as well as the name I had to upload them as. (The tiny image (t_name) and adventureimage are fine, but it's mainly the normal item image that had to be changed in various ways) — Cool12309 (talk) 17:06, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

Non-Pastamancer Effects

Is it possible to have several different Non-Pastamancer effects active at the same time? --Yatsufusa (talk) 08:30, 26 November 2014 (UTC)

Nope. Casting one removes other thrall effects. —Yendor (talk) 09:03, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
Thank you very much. I'll add it to a few pages, then. --Yatsufusa (talk) 00:33, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

Pasta Guardian summon items - do they still drop

Most of the old items used for summoning pasta guardians (which now give experience towards pasta thralls) still list as being droppable by their respective monsters. I don't ascend much as a pastamancer, but even so, I haven't noticed any new drops for such items. Are new ones still being generated?--Volc (talk) 16:46, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
