OK, it's basically a campsite item version of the personal massager. 10 times you get beaten up with it on, it gives you this message:
- You feel a strange sensation, as though reality has shifted around you in some way.
- You lose an effect: Beaten Up
- You gain (all) hit points.
On the 10th time, it also says:
- You hear a muffled crash from your campsite. Uh oh!
The campground description also changes as you take damage, as so:
0 times beaten up
- as listed on the Campground page
1 or 2
- There's a painting of you hanging on the wall. Huh. You don't remember having quite so many bruises.
3, to 5
- There's a painting of you hanging on the wall. Well, it's a painting of what you'd look like with the crap beaten out of you.
6 to 9
- There's a painting of you hanging on the wall. Little bits of it are starting to peel off. If the painting showed your legs, it'd be showing your last ones...
10 times, it's fallen off and isn't there

- Likely, this item is a reference to the novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, with a portrait of the title character that would age instead of him, as long as he never looked at it. Jimfromtx (talk) 08:49, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
- it's thirty-five years since i read it, but i totally missed that "never looked at it" bit. in fsct i remember him being described as spending hours reviewing each new corruption. maybe that was someone else. memory is a funny thing. --12:11, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
- I think the "never looked at it" bit was added in the film version of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (it's not entirely clear why either, the relevant scene would have worked just as well with destroying the painting as it would with showing it to Dorian).
