Deleveling Spading

Assumptions: Attacking with a stolen accordion (power 10) will result in a potential 2 point swing in damage done.

I played around a lot with accordion solo to try to isolate some variables:

  • The amount deleveled seemed to vary with monster I was fighting. It did not seem to vary with weapon used (granted, with only four weapons to choose from, there may not be a lot of difference there).
  • Muscle appeared to only affect damage done, and is provided as a reference here.
  • For the data below, each represents a single adventure in which I a) attacked, b) played an accordion solo and c) attacked again. I disregarded all critical hits and had no other weapon bonuses (other than the +15 ranged damage inherent in the Elvish sunglasses). To ascertain the potential reduction below, I took the two figures, and figured out the minimum and maximum reduction possible (for damage a and b, minimum reduction is b-2-(a+2) and maximum is b+2-(a-2) or b-a-4 to b-a+4).

Conclusion: Looking at the average amount of deleveling, it appears that .27*ML is pretty close to the correct formula.
