Talk:Purse Rat
As to abilities, my theory right now is that he lowers your opponent's hit rate. Firelily 07:29, 1 May 2009 (UTC)FireLily
It sounds an awful lot like +MLArgus 08:17, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
This is an obvious Paris Hilton dog parody i.e the rat-like thing she keeps in her handbag. i also think it increases ML and does something negative to you.--Kiwin 11:18, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
I think it's a reference to the Mexican Pet myth, in which a person mistakes a large Mexican rat for a dog. --BlU sKrEEm 15:47, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
I agree with sKrEEm - I think it's a pretty good Curb reference - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0948188/ --postfattism
It's probably just a generic reference to the stereotypical yappy little dogs that some rich women carry around in their purses. --LegendaryBard 18:07, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
"Rat Dog" as slang for toy dog breeds has been a thing longer than television has existed. It's just been more of a ruralism for the most part. --Rick Tyger (talk) 03:11, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
Familiar ability
It's definitely +ML. I took my 45 pound Purse Rat, Chameleon to the Dire Warren, and I had to shake 23 HP worth of spices at the bunnies to finish them off. I'm getting 6-7 substats per fight, but today's a stat day, and there's a lot of math involved that I'm in no condition to attempt right now, so I'm just going to guess that it's +weight/2 ML and go back to work. --Johnny Treehugger 21:22, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- Er... make that either "It's definitely something that looks a lot like +ML but isn't +ML", or "It's definitely +ML, but only during combat", since the aforementioned 45 pound Ratmeleon and I just fought a Burly Sidekick during a Random Lack of an Encounter. Either that or the math part of my brain is even more broken then I thought, and it's less than +20 ML. --Johnny Treehugger 21:49, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

--GoldS 07:07, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
NOTE: This ML is only applied at the start of a fight. It won't have any effect on noncombats that use ML (like the airship one)--GoldS 07:12, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Huh. The implication is that this is eventially better than a volleyball, but the break-even point is 64 lbs, so we won't be seeing a lot of these in ascensions.--Toper 22:30, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
The fact that the ML wasn't applied to the airship non-combat was a bug and has now been fixed.--Ekeinos2 23:04, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Refrence
I'm quite certain that the Throne text is a refrence to the movie Ratatouille, where the mouse controls the cook by tugging on his hair.Guywithpasta 06:08, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
- It is, but it was on the old Crown page. The next step is to wait for people to re-fill in specific familiar references from the crown onto their rightful pages. Argus 22:10, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
comic
Looks like the purse rat got featured in a comic: http://www.gocomics.com/fminus/2012/02/24 (If the link stops working: woman holding a handbag explains that the dog came with the bag.) --Club (#66669) (Talk) 04:46, 25 March 2012 (CEST)
