Talk:Raconteur elf

From A KoL Wiki

140-moxie Pastamancer, only been hit with the message "He tells the story of the Elf Who Bludgeoned the Adventurer, then acts it out." Critical? I assume they only scale up to 100 stat, as is apparently the norm.

Also, Plastic Pumpkin Basket tags him as non-elemental. - Fatmus 06:50, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

  • Level 20 Disco Bandit, 421 Moxie (390 base), losing 30-some HP to multiple kinds of attacks. No idea what the critical hit message is, but I'm at least thinking they scale farther than 100 stat. --Luke 07:40, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
  • Level 21 Accordion Thief. 414 base Moxie, I tried wading in with Stevedave's Shanty (+10%), was getting pelted with attacks. Added the frayed rope (+10%), things seemed a little better. Added the Butt-Rock Hair (+15%), it doesn't seem to change too much the fact that they enjoy hitting me...--Modran 11:32, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
    • I am thoroughly corrected about the monster scaling scope. Doh! Well, they hit me sparingly as it stands... after some Miniborg Stranger spam, I think I can be more confident at tagging it as "He tells the story of the Adventurer Who Didn't Notice the Storytelling Elf Was a Distraction from the Elf Sneaking up with a Sledgehammer. It's a real nail-biter!" after several turns. (But I'm still an idiot.) - Fatmus 11:13, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Does anyone else think this is a reference to this Penny Arcade? --Berith 22:20, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Uh, no.

raconteur /rakkontör/ • noun (fem. raconteuse /rakkontöz/) a skilful teller of anecdotes.

— ORIGIN French, from raconter ‘relate, recount’. http://www.askoxford.com/results/?view=dict&freesearch=raconteur&branch=13842570&textsearchtype=exact

I was aware of the definition, but it still seemed like more than a coincidence to me. Especially given the previous Mob Penguin racketeer in the analogous Old Crimbo Town Toy Factory. I was merely uncertain if it were a reference. As it stands, I am convinced, but if you still disagree I'll let it go.--Berith 00:51, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
