Talk:Rolling the Bones
From A KoL Wiki
There is a different clover adventure at the cementary giving one smart skull. It's probably pre-cyrpt.--Thraden 00:28, 23 August 2006 (CDT)
This one is actually post crypt. I believe Only Dust and a Plaque is precrypt. --Demius 00:30, 23 August 2006 (CDT) 00:30, 23 August 2006 (CDT)
Looks like there's some Star Trek in this. The "Dammit" quote is the same structure often used by Dr. McCoy (nicknamed "Bones" by Capt. Kirk) in Star Trek. The glittering particles references the effect of the transporter beaming him away.--Terion 01:23, 23 August 2006 (CDT)
- It's definitely a Star Trek reference. It's not only the same structure, he says 'Dammit Jim' ;-)--Thraden 01:29, 23 August 2006 (CDT)
I think the name of this adventure could also be a reference to the song "Roll the Bones" by Rush.
- "Rolling the bones" is an extremely common phrase, harkening back to a pre-Bronze Age theoretically precognive ritual (though possibly apocryphally) and mostly used to mean "throwing dice" these days. Correct in that the adventure title and the song are from a common reference base, incorrect in that they are necessarily tied together, I think. --Chamelaeon 10:36, 23 August 2006 (CDT)
