Talk:Scratch 'n' sniff sword
Do duplicates stack? I've tried two UPC stickers, and final result was only +25% meat--Phantomreader42 05:02, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Has anyone noted that the item is marked as a "QUEST" item, rather than simply non-tradable? Has this been the case on older IOTM's? --ninjatastic alex 10:15, 4 November 2008
- I would guess this is so that you can't load up a sword with stickers and simply pull it on day 1 of your next ascension. It's a neat way to make it no-trade and reset it when you go spooky. Older IoTMs don't have mechanics which would affect this - there's no way to summon a new BRC! --Denarius 18:33, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Wearing out stickers
"A sticker falls off your weapon, faded and torn." After 25 adventures with the sword (couldn't tell you how many were combats or non-combats), all three of the stickers I had attached fell off. I equipped them all at the same time earlier today. -Southwest 05:06, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- Put 3 stickers on. After 20 combats (and 11 non-combats), they all fell off. The combats were 1-hit kills. Then I put on 3 more stickers and fought some fights that required multiple rounds of hitting with a weapon. They fell off after 19 combats (actually, it was probably 20 and I miscounted.) So I'm guessing it's 20 combats and rounds don't matter. Also, the descriptions of the stickers changed from "shiny" to <no adjective> (after about 5 combats) to "dull" (after 15 combats) as they wore out. --Prestige 06:50, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- In the The Brinier Deepers (no fishy effect) I went from 178 adventures to 140 adventures, suggesting that it is combats not adventures, and it is either 19 not 20 or it is variable. Will try to confirm with some other stickers. Edit: Using the next three stickers I got 20 combats, and using my last two I also got 20 combats. It appears that being beaten up will add to the "time until wearing out" counter, but it'd need to be confirmed. --Scutterman 11:03, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- 40 turns in the Noob Cave, followed by 20 in the warren removed a sticker. 26 turns in the airship, taking 6 chests (non-combat) removed a sticker. 60 turns in the bedroom with 0 combats, followed by 20 turns in the beabat chamber with 0 non-combats removed a sticker. Preliminary spading shows a non-variable 20-turn last on each sticker, decremented at the start of a combat. Non-combats do NOT decrement the counter. --AtroPhied 17:56, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- Well, both sets I used today wore off after 20 combats, but I am certain I didn't miscount for the first set yesterday... maybe a bug or something?--Scutterman 12:39, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
They wear out, even with the sword equipped to a Disembodied Hand. It was exactly 20 combats for me. --Phydeauxx 22:14, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Summoning multiple swords?
is it possible to summon more than 1 sword to apply up to 6 stickers to 2 swords or even more? and has anyone tried dual weilding these? --dewhashish 8:54 4 November 2008 EST
Maybe. I'm thinking that if you use a sticker first, then summon your first one, you could get two.--Eniteris 03:53, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- Possible. Though I'd expect that the summoning of stickers simply checks to see if you have a sword/xbow, and only gives you the sword if that comes up false. --Terion 07:56, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- It's marked as no discard and quest item, so you can't put it in your display case or closet and try and get another one. They have thought of everything... dammit. --Phelyan 10:38, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
Disembodied Hand
Do the stickers degrade on the hand?--Eniteris 03:53, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- Above, Phydeauxx said that they do degrade when the weapon is equipped by the disembodied hand. --Terion 07:51, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
Sword Power
I am level 9, in a Casual run (dropped original path restrictions). I just summoned stickers & sword for the first time, and my sword shows as power 100, instead of the 90 I'd expect. --Terion 08:00, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe it's just a set 100 power out of Ronin/HC. --Mud Man 09:36, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
Any reason the power doesn't adjust to 100 after freeing the king on an HC run? Can't think of why they made it not adjust. --Fxer 01:50, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
- Level 4, new account, 100 power. --Raijinili 15:03, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Other
When I clicked all the stickers at once it showed the middle slot not being filled and when I tried to stick a sticker there it said this: Odd. You already have a sticker in that spot. --GothicWonder 19:10, 23 November 2008 (GMT)
I'm in ronin right now, my sword was in Hangk's. I had spare MP and summoned stickers anyway, planning to pull the sword eventually. On a whim, I clicked the [Use] button under a sticker and was informed that I pulled a piece of paper from the garbage and folded a new sword. I checked and my sword is no longer in Hangk's. It's in my inventory. I had already used all my pulls for the day.
Can someone else in ronin please try this and confirm I'm not just having an elaborate hallucination? This would make the sword a nearly free pull, no? It only costs the MP for summoning 3 stickers. --Lemonfresh 22:52, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- Er, what? This is a quest item. It can't have been in Hagnk's. Additionally, if you didn't have a sword, using a sticker would make one, so there is no free pull regardless. --BagatelleT/C 23:02, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
I deleted my previous comment because I had total recall failure. My bad. I had read but then not retained, the second line in Item,
"Using any of the stickers if you do not already have a scratch 'n' sniff sword or scratch 'n' sniff crossbow."
--MadonKody 04:51, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- This item is marked as a Quest Item because it is not meant to be carried from ascension to ascension. That is the only reason. This is summoned from the Scratch 'n' Sniff Sticker Tome, not dropped in any Quest. --MindlessGames 00:50, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- To expand, the Quest flag means that an item will disappear upon ascension. It's a bit of a misnomer these days, the original flag was for items that were quest-related, but it's expanded since ascension was implemented..--Toffile 02:18, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
