Talk:Shiny butcherknife
Where is this item gotten? The only one available in the mall is 125,000,000, in FearsOfGun (465497)'s possession. --Azp2k32
Perhaps it's an ultra-rare that drops in Spookyraven Manor.--Jubbers 17:36, 23 September 2006 (CDT)
Probably drops in the kitchen as an ultra-rare. He should pulverize it and see if he gets an ultimate wad. Repelex 17:42, 23 September 2006 (CDT)
I really doubt this is an ultra-rare - it's way too crappy to be one, and its picture isn't animated. Either a: there's a recipe to make this that no one has worked out yet, or b: it's acquired by adventuring somewhere in the Manor with some obscure equipment setup and/or status effect. Anyone know of any horror movies the knife could reference?--Hogulus 17:46, 23 September 2006 (CDT)
- Seems like every teen slasher movie to me... Discworldian 18:17, 23 September 2006 (CDT)
- Could be, but if we're going for the 'major' ones, Halloween or Psycho would be the best guess; Psycho having likely the most famous knife-murder ever. Mr. Blonde 03:48, 25 September 2006 (CDT)
- Given the text of the knife being in the background, it seems like it's more of a reference to a general horror trope, where the people who get killed rarely try to grab the obvious big knife out of the kitchen (or baseball bat by the closet door, etc.), and thus can't defend themselves. --Rick Tyger (talk) 04:24, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
FearsOfGun isn't currently telling anyone where or how he got it.--Jubbers 21:38, 23 September 2006 (CDT)
FearsOfGun said this when someone suggested i might drop in the Haunted kitchen: "I will say that I'm afraid you're barking up the wrong tree. There's a (very) subtle hint there." --Ion42 04:06, 24 September 2006 (CDT)
Latest FearsOfGun quote:
- I don't know if anyone really cares at this point, but I've made what meat I'll make off the "secret" new item, so I will say that if you ARE trying to figure it out, it is the only item that is obtained the way it is obtained, and thus if you're trying to meatsmith/paste/kill something to get it, you're wasting your time.

Verified "Run Away" from possessed silverware drawer to obtain shiny butcherknife. I first attempted three scrolls of ancient forbidden unspeakable evil and it did not drop. Has anyone verified obtaining it by using the scroll?
Here's the text:
As you run out the door of the Haunted Kitchen, a butcherknife flies out of the drawer and sticks in the doorjamb next to you. You grab it as you flee. You acquire an item: shiny butcherknife

- The person who told me how it was obtained said he got his by using the scroll, i haven't verified it myself. --Ion42 10:46, 25 September 2006 (CDT)
This might be a one-time drop. Both my characters got one running away, but when one character tried to get a second, it didn't drop. I'm out of turns to check again. --Crowther 15:38, 25 September 2006 (CDT)
I got it as a drop, but then ran away from the monster again and didn't get it.--Jubbers 01:47, 26 September 2006 (CDT)
Are you guys positive it's the Scroll of Evil? That kills the monster. I'm pretty sure you want to use the scrap of tattered paper:
You quickly fold the tattered scrap of paper into an origami unicorn and set it in front of your opponent. As it stares at it, puzzling over its implications, you beat feet out of there.
As you run out the door of the Haunted Kitchen, a butcherknife flies out of the drawer and sticks in the doorjamb next to you. You grab it as you flee.

I'm pretty sure this is a one time drop. I tried running away a few more times and no shiny butcherknife. I'm betting it resets with ascension, but I won't be able to test that until after tomorrow's FoB. --Crowther 10:27, 26 September 2006 (CDT)
I'm ascending tomorrow too, so I can test it as well.--Jubbers 17:29, 26 September 2006 (CDT)
I forgot all about this, but I tested today and it is once per ascension. --Crowther 11:38, 1 October 2006 (CDT)
New Drop Method?
I just got one of these after killing a Zombie Chef, after I picked one up from the drawer. But here's the real odd bit: It says I yoinked it from him, after he was defeated. I'm a Seal Clubber this run, under the Wombat. --Sparksol 01:32, 30 May 2007 (CDT)
- Isn't there a greasemonky or mafia bug which causes something like this to happen occasionally? (The last item drop is displayed as yoinked from another monster.)--Starwed 02:21, 30 May 2007 (CDT)
- D'oh, you're right. I just checked inventory, and I only have the one knife now. Something in greasemonkey. --Sparksol 02:59, 30 May 2007 (CDT)
Another new drop method. Use a divine champagne popper. No adv loss and the item does drop.--Franknbeans 16:37, 25 June 2008 (CDT)
I just got one from the Serendipity effect. "What a serendipitous find. You acquire an item: shiny butcherknife". --Rick Tyger (talk) 09:11, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
