Tried this on pirates, no effect.
Maybe try in the bat hole? The combat item does say the area 'echos with laughter', it might knock down some rubble. No special message when used on a beanbat after the boss had already been cleared. --Starwed 03:06, 8 September 2011 (CEST)

Seems like there should be something more to this. Tried one each on a bug, constellation, demihuman, demon, elemental, fish, goblin, hobo, horror, humanoid, plant, slime, and strange thing. Nothing happened (except for lots of spooky damage). Tried on a spooky-aligned, physically resistant monster, did 1 spooky damage, nothing else interesting happened.
