Are we SURE this guy has the hacienda key? Because that would be really... convenient, especially compared to the alert one.
- Confirmed -- I just Pickpocketed one from him. And was then given the option to Pick His Pocket again (from the surprised mariachi) --Baltar 08:32, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- ACK. Same here. --Obeliks 13:03, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
For the record, using noodles on them, does stop them from moving to the next stage. At least I got an extra round on the surprise mariachi after using it on the Sleepy mariachi when he went to surprised. --Darkwolf 16:40, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
Lowered my base mainstat below the enemy's ML to test initiative. At +30% init I got the jump. After 100 adventures at +25% init I never got the jump. Enemy initiative is 125. --EvilMatt 23:26, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Pickpocket frequency
Just wondering; approx how often do you get the chance to pickpocket these guys? Been trying for best part of 2 days to get my 5th key, but every time I've encountered a Sleepy mariachi he always gets the jump on me :-/ Nrms 09:53, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Advice
You can only pickpocket an enemy when you win Combat Initiative, and sleepy mariachis have pretty good combat initiative. Lower-level Accordion Thieves trying to knock off this quest will probably need Cletus's Canticle of Celerity (your level 3 guild skill) and a cheap wind-up clock (which you can buy at the Smacketeria on the Right Side of Town for 200 Meat, even though you're not a Muscle class -- it pays to be a thief!) You've probably also accumulated candy of some kind during your journey; eating candy gives you a Sugar Rush, which also improves your combat initiative. Finally, if you're patient, you can get extra initiative buffs by using marzipan skulls dropped South of the Border, Swabbie™ swabs dropped in the F'c'le, or even the unusual plastic guitar drops from the Valley Beyond the Orc Chasm. What you can't do is buff your Moxie; only your unbuffed main stat affects your combat initiative.--Satyreyes 20:01, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- You always get the jump on sleepy mariachis I believe. The init for them should only be relevant to trying to run away from them. That or someone was overzealous and copied info from another monster over. --Flargen 21:11, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
