Talk:Space Trip
I'm kind of in the middle of something at the moment, and I have no idea how to start or organize such a potentially elaborate and complex game page but here are my Space Trip results:
You snap back to the reality of the arcade, and look at the screen of the Space Trip cabinet:
The Voyage of the ASPCA Worldfish: Minerals mined: 4,930 986 points Zoological data gathered: 4,720 1,180 points Anomalies discovered: 4 1,000 points Total crew: 41 410 points Crew lost: 84 -840 points Crew sold into slavery: 30 -1,500 points Ship upgrades purchased: 5 2,500 points Alpha Quadrant enemies defeated: 9 900 points Beta Quadrant enemies defeated: 2 500 points Total Score: 5,136 There is a satisfying whirring noise as the cabinet spits out some tickets: You acquire 5 Game Grid tickets
So I guess one shouldn't send any crew members over to space party ships in the Beta Quadrant. Still, it's a nifty little space exploration/adventure game --Noskilz 21:47, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Just to keep track of the commerce grenades:
Alpha Quad:
Muffler (-gas costs) = 1000c Shield (-damage) = 500c
Beta Quad:
Dual torpedo (Launch two torpedos at once) = 1500c Antenna (Supposedly boosts resource finds) = 2000c
Gamma Quad:
Heat Detector (Ups damage on torpedos) = 2000c Headphones (Safer planet exploring) = 2500c --Skolor 14:36, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
what is this game a parody of because its fun as heck Microwave 17:58, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
- It's a parody of Star Control II, which is also fun as heck, and available freely for download under the name "The Ur-Quan Masters". --Johnny Treehugger 18:41, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
- Interesting, i was thinking about Mass Effect ans Cosmos stage of Spore first. --Hrag 18:08, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
- Has anybody hit "Retire"? Does it kick you out, freeze your game where you are, lose your token, and/or...? -- acm, 21:35, 2 June 2010 (EST)
- it just ends your game --Ganomex 04:59, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Ok some hints - in the alpha quadrant - explore the murder bot mining colony till you get the ID transmitter - in the beta quad you can meet some aliens in an axe battleship - go to the home world fight easy fight, talk to them, get translation - in the gamma quad you can find some aliens then who'll fix ID transmitter, you can then get into the murderbot colony....and a 500 health hitting you for 45 (unsheilded) 'boss' which probably unlocks the final boss.....as it blew me to kingdom come I can't guide past it yet
Selling people will lower your score but up your creds, I say sell, sell, sell in the alpha - I have been getting the muffler, it probably saves at least 15 fuel per gamma trip 10 per beta, 5 per alpha....assuming you use it 10,10,10 that saves 1,500 creds at a cost of 1,300 - that's a conservative estimate, it will save you money in the long run....consider before you buy....HOWEVER the sheild could be more useful considering what you face later on - that + armor plating I'd recomend for that boss, and the dual torpedos.....4,300 creds worth of stuff there mind. that on top of the 6,000 for drives....and crew replacem ents another 1k on top....getting money early is vital
ALSO this could be me, more I sell as slaves, less show up to buy.....anyone else noticing that? Oh yeh sig --Sniddy 05:43, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Further to the above, yes that is the final boss...after that you can go to the source and win at any point....if you keep your crew it takes about 8 torpedoes (I was dual firing) I was much more heavily shielded (armor + sheild) probably only loosing about 20 people per hit....--Sniddy 06:02, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Am I the only one that went O_O at the fact that their version of StarFleet has the acronym NAMBLA? Just sayin'. --Jimfromtx 07:24, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
- I found it funny. It's a recurring joke on the Jon Stewart show. They also have GNAA if you're looking to be more offended. --Fig bucket 10:27, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
- and y'all have heard of Wesley Crusher, right? --Evilkolbot 12:50, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
Notes
Some notes about the game from --CrashCoredump 17:53, 15JUN2010 (UTC+1):
- This game appears to be a parody of StarFlight with elements of Star Control added.
- The idea of collecting Crabs seems to be a parody of collecting Endurium in StarFlight, especially as Endurium is a living creature
- The universe blowing up is also a parody of the StarFlight plot, and having to blow up some control world is similar to how you must blow up the Crystal Planet to stop the destruction of the universe in StarFlight
- The Procrastinator civilization appears to be a parody of the Ancients in StarFlight or the Precursors in Star Control II (I'm leaning more towards Precursors for this one)
- The slaver aliens appear to be a mashup of a couple of different Star Control 2 races, the Orz and Druuj. Their communications appear to be like Orz Communications (*CAMPERS* ARE *HAPPIEST* WHEN WE ARE HAVING *SAUCE*) while the slaving activities are like the Druuj (and I believe that in Star Control 2 you are able to sell your crew into slavery as well, another reference to this game).
Some notes from a successful Space Trip from --Fireyflame 21:35, 5 June 2010 (UTC):
- Defeating slavers gives you crew
- Exploring always uses a week, so you might as well explore that planet somehow. Visiting the space station and trading with astrozians does not take time
- Science missions seem to have only non-lethal failure
- Your first successful science expedition will always result in 3 beacons
- Near the end-game, enemies give nearly 2k cash each.
- Procrastinator artifacts, while useful, seem to almost never happen.
- Mostly it's +crew (seems to be +% crew), or +5 torpedoes. The crew option nearly always has a much lower cash-value, and while the torpedos have a higher cash value, liquid is more useful in the early game
- Zoological expeditions seem to give more money on average
I'll outline my general stratergy here. Farming for more cash for gas is advisable, values are minimum for upgrades. And, uh, spoilers, but that's what the wiki's for
- Explore the alpha quadrant 'till i get enough for the life scanner
- Continue exploring until i find planets with >40% anomaly change, go for science, get beacons
- Use all three beacons, and choose the 'mine' option.
- Fill up on gas, buy a 'nade. Main blaster upgrade if it will leave me with >1000 crabs
- Go buy the muffler
- Explore for 3,300 money (zoological option)
- Visit the station, buy a 'nade and engine upgrade
- But the antenna
- Back to alpha to raise funds. Beta quadrant planets take up too much gas and have a higher failure rate.
- At 2,800, buy the plating and a 'nade, and then buy a sheild
- Go to the alpha mining platform until you encounter the communications vessel
- If you have enough, upgrade the blaster again
- Go to beta, explore 'till you find the Scandians
- Go to their homeworld
- Visit again, aquire hipster dictionary
- Back to farming alpha for the engine upgrade
- Cruise Gamma 'till you find the hipsters. You're likely to gather enough funds fighting dreadnauhts to buy both torpedo upgrades. If not, keep exploring gamma.
- Stock up on torpedos, crew, enough gas
- Go murderhive, take out boss.
- Visit source, use omega bomb
Doing this got me 6th place, and 18 tickets --Fireyflame 21:35, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- The number of tickets awarded at the end seems to be your score/1000, rounded down, minimum 5.
- When sending distress signal, the tip is X (needs spading) percentage of your current number of crabs. It can be zero, if you don't have any crabs, you still get 10 gas. --Csabo 21:17, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- When crew levels are low (<11) the first menu also offers a "Send distress signal" option. This adds 10 crew members and takes 50% of your crabs as tip. For gas, it's also seems to be 50% of your crabs. --Csabo 21:29, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- this Game may be more of a parody of Starflight http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starflight --SamhainIA
Found a new item from the Procrastinators. It's an alarm clock that gives the option to hit a Snooze button from the bridge. IT GIVES YOU FIFTEEN MORE WEEKS. --Ephesos 03:02, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
- Using Procrastinators in different quadrants give different results, or at least different probabilities. Gamma is known for urinal cakes and SNOOZE. My results from the Procrastinators in Beta: Towels, Clone28, Clone32. Also got 150 fuel on a science expo (which I think is the same thing as the beacon expos). --Raijinili 11:18, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
My general strategy for this game is to explore planets' zoology until i get enough crabs to upgrade my ability to farm, then get strong enough to move to another galaxy (e.g. beam weapon & engine upgrade) then do it all over again.
A more detailed strategy for beating the game (not necessarily optimal or resulting in highest points):
- SPOILERS BELOW**
I don't use torpedos, so the priority order for items is:
- lifeforms scanner (general store)
- Beam level 2 (military)
- muffler (alpha grenade merchant)
- engine level 2 (general)
- antenna (beta grenade merchant)
- beam level 3 (military)
- engine level 3 (general)
- plating (military)
- shields (alpha merchant)
Roughly the steps I took were:
Location Conditions Action alpha quadrant explore lifeforms store crabs 800 lifeforms upgrade alpha quadrant mining platform communications vessel store crabs 800 beam upgrade (500), grenade (300) alpha quadrant grenade buy muffler (1000) store crabs 1300 engine (1000), grenade(300) beta quadrant crabs 2000, grenade antenna(2000) store crabs 2800 plating (2000), grenade(300) alpha quadrant grenade shield(500) alpha quadrant crabs 1500 blaster(1500) beta quadrant find scandians get coordinates scadian homeworld met scandians fight boss scadian homeworld have murderbot x-mitr get dictionary beta quadrant crabs 5000 engine gamma quadrant planet with anomaly%>40explore science gamma quadrant beacons use beacons gamma quadrant find hipsters fix transmitter store buy crew, gas murderhive kill boss go to source use omega bomb

Captain, the Mothership has just shot us with, like, forty laser cannons. We lost 14 crew members in the attack... Captain, the Procrastinator urinal cake has done tremendous damage to the enemy ship. 228 of their crew were eliminated in the blast!
Since I couldn't find anywhere that said what the urinal cake bomb does. --Greycat 01:15, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
