Talk:Spooky alphabet block

From A KoL Wiki

I have a feeling there are multiple messages here...the following were with six in inventory)

You grab a handful of spooky alphabet blocks out of your pack and roll them at your opponent. The word that comes up is DEMON, and your opponent is suddenly beset by nightmarish visions of Hey Deze and the tortures that await it there for all eternity. (At least that's what you gather from its frantic babbling.)

One of the blocks flares up in sickly green flames and vanishes, leaving a scorch mark on the floor.

(delevels 10)

You grab a handful of spooky alphabet blocks out of your pack and roll them at your opponent. The word that comes up is GRAVE, and your opponent is beset by horrible Ebenezer Scrooge-like visions of their future death. (Very near future, if you have anything to say about it.)

One of the blocks flares up in sickly green flames and vanishes, leaving a scorch mark on the floor.

(stuns, not staggers)

(that and subsequent rounds): Your opponent is still reeling from the shock of being confronted with its own mortality, and fails to do anything that might confront you with yours.

(final round): Your opponent's eyes refocus, and it shakes its head, recovering from its previous horrifying shock.

(with 4 in inventory)

You pull four spooky alphabet blocks out of your pack, and roll them at your foe. They come up spelling a word that can't be printed in a family game like this one, and your opponent is a little bit shocked.

You pull four spooky alphabet blocks out of your pack, and roll them at your foe. The resulting word is too foul to actually tell you what it is, but the look on your opponent's face is priceless.

You pull four spooky alphabet blocks out of your pack, and roll them at your foe. Considering that you can only roll four-letter words, your opponent is naturally a bit shocked by the results.

You grab a handful of spooky alphabet blocks out of your pack and roll them at your opponent. They spell out the word CRYPT, and your opponent reacts with horror at sudden visions of a nightmarish withered and cackling ghoul. "The puns!" it screams. "I can't take it!"

One of the blocks crumbles in a wreath of thick yellow smoke and vanishes, leaving the smell of sulphur in the air.

Your opponent is still reeling from the shock of being confronted with its own mortality, and fails to do anything that might confront you with yours.

You grab a handful of spooky alphabet blocks out of your pack and roll them at your opponent. They come up spelling GROSS, which turns out to be pretty appropriate when your opponent starts doing its impression of a pea soup firehose.

One of the blocks suddenly explodes with an anguished howl, scattering splinters around the room.

Your opponent coughs and retches, hacking up 831 points worth of what might be bile, and might be ectoplasm. Or both -- there's no reason why it couldn't be both. (spooky damage)

with 3 in inventory You pull some spooky alphabet blocks out of your pack, but it turns out you only have three of them, which means the best you could hope for would be 'BOO'. Not super frightening. (no effect)

You pull some spooky alphabet blocks out of your pack, but it turns out you only have three of them. You roll them anyway, and they spell YUP. You and your opponent look at each other and kind of shrug.

You pull some spooky alphabet blocks out of your pack, but it turns out you only have three of them. Words like 'THE' or 'AND' don't seem very likely to shock your opponent.

with 2 in inventory You pull out some spooky alphabet blocks to roll at your opponent, but it turns out you only have two of them. You roll them anyway, and they come up "UM".

You pull out some spooky alphabet blocks to roll at your opponent, but it turns out you only have two of them. You can't imagine that your opponent will be particularly shocked by "IF" or "TO".

You pull out some spooky alphabet blocks to roll at your opponent, but it turns out you only have two of them, which isn't even enough for 'BOO'.

with 1 in inventory Given that you only have one spooky alphabet block to roll, you don't think you're going to get anything very scary. You won't even get a word, unless maybe it's 'I' or 'A'.

Given that you only have one spooky alphabet block to roll, you don't think you're going to get anything very scary. Except maybe 'X'. X is kind of scary, right? It's probably the scariest single letter. Still, that isn't saying very much.

Given that you only have one spooky alphabet block to roll, you don't think you're going to get anything very scary. I guess 'E' would be kind of like a scream, but that's really stretching it.

You grab a handful of spooky alphabet blocks out of your pack and roll them at your opponent. They spell out the word FANGS, and something you can't quite see (and definitely don't want to see) bites a 1104 damage-sized chunk out of your opponent. (spooky)

One of the blocks crumbles in a wreath of thick yellow smoke and vanishes, leaving the smell of sulphur in the air.

with 50 inventory

You grab a handful of spooky alphabet blocks out of your pack and roll them at your opponent. The letters spell out the word SLIME, which (judging from your opponent's reaction) is what its internal organs are turning into -- except the lungs, which are filling up with it.

One of the blocks suddenly explodes with an anguished howl, scattering splinters around the room.

Your opponent coughs and retches, hacking up 511 points worth of what might be bile, and might be ectoplasm. Or both -- there's no reason why it couldn't be both. (spooky)

You grab a handful of spooky alphabet blocks out of your pack and roll them at your opponent. The letters spell out the word FNORD, and your opponent seems way, way more disturbed by that than you can fully grok.

One of the blocks flares up in sickly green flames and vanishes, leaving a scorch mark on the floor.

Your opponent is still reeling from the shock of being confronted with its own mortality, and fails to do anything that might confront you with yours. (stuns for 2 rounds, note that FNORD is invisible)

with 84 in inventory

You grab a handful of spooky alphabet blocks out of your pack and roll them at your opponent. They spell out the word DEATH, which is kind of disappointingly obvious and cliche, but from the look on your opponent's face, it's taking it very seriously indeed.

One of the blocks suddenly explodes with an anguished howl, scattering splinters around the room.

Your opponent is still reeling from the shock of being confronted with its own mortality, and fails to do anything that might confront you with yours.

with 83 in inventory

You grab a handful of spooky alphabet blocks out of your pack and roll them at your opponent. They spell out the word FLESH, and your flesh crawls as 456 points worth of your opponent's flesh crawls off its body and onto yours, painfully grafting itself in place.

One of the blocks flares up in sickly green flames and vanishes, leaving a scorch mark on the floor.

You gain 911 hit points.

(note that the HP gain is almost twice the damage)

with 82 in inventory

You grab a handful of spooky alphabet blocks out of your pack and roll them at your opponent. The word that comes up is KNIFE, and there is a wordless howl and a flash of spectral light as a ghostly knife flashes through the air and juliennes your opponent's face for 1 damage.

One of the blocks crumbles in a wreath of thick yellow smoke and vanishes, leaving the smell of sulphur in the air.

(spooky damage against creepy doll)

with 81 in inventory

One of the blocks flares up in sickly green flames and vanishes, leaving a scorch mark on the floor.

Your opponent coughs and retches, hacking up 263 points worth of what might be bile, and might be ectoplasm. Or both -- there's no reason why it couldn't be both. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Foggy (talkcontribs) on 10:57, May 17, 2014

Damage

There are three different outcomes that cause damage

  • Spooky damage over several rounds
  • Spooky damage all at once
  • Spooky damage and also healing

I played around with foggy3 and foggy4 to try to find out what the variable was in the damage. Working with a much higher HP amount without boosting muscle did not affect the healing outcome. Boosting muscle increased all three outcomes for foggy3, but boosting mysticality and having an artificially low muscle led to greatly decreased outcomes. So the damage scales according to Muscle.

Now for the fun part: figuring out the actual formula. -Foggy (talk) 16:19, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
