When a Stab Bat increases level, does its chance of attacking you decrease? --Qwertly 13:22, 5 April 2006 (CDT)

  • In the Playstation game "Nightmare Creatures" one of the creatures looks very similar to the stab bat.

Stab bat Damage

So, a brief start on stab bat damage. Out of 10 successful hits by a 25lb stab bat (20lb w/ Leash of Linguini) the low was 14 and the High was 27. 60% of attacks on monsters, 40% on me, no damage reduction.

Out of 10 successful hits by a 30lb stab bat (20lb + Leash + Plastic pumpkin bucket) NOT COUNTING PUMPKIN BUCKET ATTACKS, only the actual stab bat attacks, The Low was 18, and the high 31. Also 60% vs moster, 40% vs me.

I'll run a couple days of testing to determine successful attack rates, total damage, and the effects of the shock collar on the attack mix. Tiwaz 15:34, 22 October 2006 (CDT)

I have gathered some data, mostly in the gallery, all with the shock collar on.

Rather than showing a bunch of more raw data, I'll show the conclusions; it can be produced if desired.

Hit rate does not depend significantly on the monster being attacked. There seem to be subtle shifts, but it's probably just noise, since going to vastly lower ML didn't change the overall hit rate.

I incorporate Tiwaz' data from above.

weight%attacked mehit% vs mehit% vs monstersdamage
43 18% 26/32 = 81% 122/144 = 85% 23-45
34 22% 45/69 = 65% 159/235 = 68% 19-36
30 ? 18-31
28 16% 10/36 = 28% 99/195 = 51% 16-30
27 20%* 12/21 = 57% 41/83 = 49.4% 15-29
25 ? 14-27
17 19%* 20/48 = 42% 65/206 = 32% 10-19

(*these values are biased high due to a silly error)

Hit rate looks a little less than 2*weight%

Damage looks like (0.5...1)*(weight+2), evenly distributed over that range.

Does anyone want to gather data on very light stab bats? I'm going for slice-and-dice, so I can cover the extra-heavy ones.

However, this is conclusive enough over a wide enough range that I'll put it on the page. --Drachefly 13:14, 14 December 2006 (CST)

...

Should it be mentioned that its plural (stab bats) is a palindrome, considering where the ingrediebts come from?

  • "In The Cake-Shaped Arena the Stab Bat never stabs you." Do we really need this, or is it intentionally kept on the page as a joke? --Rick Tyger (talk) 10:22, 30 November 2021 (UTC)

Spading

The following data was gathered using a seal clubber. I ran from 1-19 pounds without a shock collar, and then switched to a shock collar after upping its weight.

Functionally the same as the Scary Death Orb, except its physical damage for both.--Foggy 09:53, 21 February 2008 (CST)

Spoilers

Is there a reason the current trophy method isn't mentioned explicitly? I don't really think this qualifies as one of the few "please don't spoil that" pieces of info, but I could be wrong. --StDoodle 14:58, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

  • I think it is a case of "people writing this got the trophy in NS11 days, and haven't tried again on a new account". If you know it, go ahead and update it. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 15:56, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

The -20 weight from a little bitty bathysphere might be optimal for this familiar. - AvangionQ / November 23rd, 2011

  • Then you'd lose out on the benefits of it attacking your opponent. There is one familiar that would benefit from the bathysphere, though. Gives me an idea for a 100% familiar run to try, actually. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 06:57, 24 November 2011 (CET)
