Talk:Stench hobo

From A KoL Wiki

You're fighting Flatulent Leonard Stemple

You trip over a pile of old newspaper and greasy rags. The pile says, "hey!" and stands up. Turns out, it's a hobo. A grouchy, stinky hobo who doesn't take kindly to being tripped over.

You get the jump on him.

You shoot him for 73 (+12) (+40) (+70) damage. You consider asking him some questions, but decide to do it later. BARF! ZAP! SPLAT! WHAM! WHACK! BIFF! SPLAT! POW! POW!

The oppressive smell of the heaps of garbage around you makes you feel sort of sick. You lose 1 hit point. (stench damage)

The hobo lets loose a piercing whistle. A big dog comes bounding up and plants his paws on your shoulders, licking your face. "This here's Rex," the hobo says, "and he just found a whole family of skunks!" Argh! Ouch! Ouch! You lose 5 hit points. (stench damage)

  • Next round:

He approaches you and whispers something incomprehensible into your ear. From the smell of his breath, you're guessing that it wasn't the address of a good oral hygienist. You lose 92 hit points. (stench damage)

Seems they have weaker attacks as well. --Raijinili 01:53, 19 June 2008 (CDT)

Ambient Stench Damage

Okay, so I've been checking out what the ambient stench damage is to try to get some more concrete data on the choice adventures.

  • Initial ASD: At 40% resistance, I got 9-12 stench damage. This translates to 15-20 damage.
  • Volcano: After 1 volcano was started, I got 12-15 stench damage, translating to 20-25 damage.
  • Volcano: After 2 volcanoes were started, I got 14-17 stench damage, translating to 24-29 damage.
  • Volcano: After 3 volcanoes were started, I got 17-20 stench damage, translating to 29-34 damage.
  • Volcano: After 4 volcanoes were started, I was bounced right to I Refuse.
  • I Refuse: After finding some items, I got 0-1 stench damage.
  • Volcano: After 5 volcanoes/refuse, I got 1-4 stench damage, translating to 2-7.
  • Volcano: After 6 volcanoes/refuse, I get 3-6 stench damage, translating to 7-10.
  • Volcano: After 7 volcanoes/refuse, I get 6-9 stench damage, translating to 10-15.
  • Compost: 7 volcanoes/refuse/was green, I still get 6-9 stench damage, translating to 10-15.

It would appear that the volcano adds 3-5 ASD per eruption, I Refuse resets to smell, and Being Green does nothing to ASD. Can anyone verify this? --Foggy 10:00, 5 July 2008 (CDT)

Spading Ahoy

On a character with So-So Stench Resistance-- 20%. Dunno if it applies to the ambient damage or the special attacks.

Current theory: Strength of special attack is static, rate is based upon stench level. Unsure about exact range, or how sending compost affect strength of specials. --TechSmurf 03:28, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

  • So, elemental resistance affects special attacks-- tested it by adding a gatorskin umbrella. Damage is independent of stench level-- unsure of how sending compost affects damage. Will test more once I hammer down the base damage range.

New theory! Sort of. Are special attack rates a flat rate, or are they a percentage of attacks? For both tests, boosting stench resistance with Dogsgotnonoz pills so I can survive more easily. Next, for the first test, raising moxie to over 1000 to ensure I don't get hit by anything but criticals. For the second test, dropping moxie as low as possible to ensure I get hit by everything dem' stinky hobos got. Stench level is 3, if I find that to be significant at an point.

Moxie Crits Hits Misses Specials Rate
1059 3 0 46 55 52%
1 3 46 0 56 53%

Close enough to say stats don't matter. Woo. --TechSmurf 03:31, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Due to my complete lack of reading stuff, I did not notice until now that Myst classes have an intrinsic 5% elemental resistance. Numbers updated accordingly! --TechSmurf 04:05, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Okay, confident enough in the special attack damage range for the stinkybos and the sleazybos to to start playing around with elemental strength levels. Initial test: Sending trash from the PLD to the Heap. Both pages will be updated accordingly. --TechSmurf 05:19, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

  • We'll call the base elemental strength of the area-- 316-384-- level 0 elemental strength. sending sewage to the BG presumably lowers elemental strength. Sending flowers from the BG presumably also lowers elemental strength in the Heap. Anyway. On with the testing.
    • New new theory. Special attack rate is 50%, range is 316-384, affected by elemental strength. Nothing raises or lowers special attack strength or rate, thus far. Zone has a stench level counter, starts at four. Trashcanos and sending trash from the PLD raise stench level. Revamping chart accordingly.

Sending compost to the BG affects neither ambient damage nor special attack damage. Hm.
