Talk:TΤ◊lisman of Baiø‡

From A KoL Wiki

Figured that this was the best middle ground for now, since the actual name causes a database error. --Idran 02:31, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

"TΤ◊lisman of Baiø‡" is how to search it out in the mall itself, though you may want to go to edit the page and take it from there since pre and nowiki don't work for that conversion (Obviously my wiki-fu is lacking beyond that.) --InvalidUser 07:10, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

  • Like so: "TΤ◊lisman of Baiø‡" --Fig bucket 12:09, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

... does this actually DO anything? Make monster attraction vary by moon phase or the like? --Yunatwilight 06:46, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

  • Hmm, I'm in the middle of an HC ascension right now and I'm about to get to the island war. I'll have to check that out on Sonofa Beach. This should be a good way of determining combat frequency influence. Merely conjecture, but either the effect will be 1% per phase or 5% per phase. If it turns out to be 5% per phase, this could have a major impact on the speed run game.--Fluxxdog 19:37, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
  • Edit: Sorry, completely forgot about this and had ascended again. I do plan on spending some time in aftercore though, so I can spend some time working on this. I'm hurrying!--Fluxxdog 02:10, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Well, even if it is just 1%, it takes up the container slot, which has nothing else that's marginally useful to be worth a pull (if you get this talisman to drop randomly). Not to mention all other containers are really expensive. --Kli1195 19:44, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

I think it does nothing because the two effects would cancel out, right? -slasher88die

Possibly. Or it's possible that it acts like what Yunatwilight suggested above, where the magnitude of each effect is different and so there is a net effect, possibly varying based on the moons or something. --TimRem 10:41, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Anyone know the drop rate on this? I've had the right familiar equipment for five or six days on this run now, adventuring average 150 turns per day. I've gotten all of the other bugged drops (the meat stabbing club, the mafia knickerthingy, and the knob goblin love potion), but I still have not had this thing drop.--Brightbutt The Defenestrator 20:53, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Has there been any spading on this for effects besides combat frequency? Given the nature of the item, I wouldn't be surprised if the actual enchantment was something like +item drops despite the enchantment text. --TimRem 22:29, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Was not intending to spade but just had a wierd happening: I am adving in at a well confirmed 85% combat zone (knob shaft) with 3 +combats to take it to 100% combat, had this item on just for S&G evidently it is in someway effecting the rates because I netted a non-combat with it on. I assume it adds to both but they are not even amounts. --Uzziah 17:04, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

PvP

This does not currently appear to count towards the 'Longest equipment names' challenge in PvP. --Alexbishops 21:53, 5 May 2012 (CEST)

No containers count. --timrem 22:19, 5 May 2012 (CEST)

Diminishing Returns

I think he meant that if you have 25% combat and 0% non combat, the Talisman will give you 26% combat and 5% non combat, so net 4% non combat. Maybe. If I had to guess. --Johnny Treehugger 03:26, 13 December 2012 (CET)

  • While I would guess the same, the fact that we have to guess speaks for the removal of the statement. For me the line "Spading suggests no effect." already explains enough to understand that this item is nothing but a funny ornament at best. --Yatsufusa 04:39, 13 December 2012 (CET)
    • Oh, I'm fine with removing it. Just trying to translate what was written. (For posterity: "It is possible that this item effectively lowers the point of diminishing returns. Additional spading is required.") --Johnny Treehugger 15:31, 13 December 2012 (CET)
