Talk:Take a Look, it's in a Book!

From A KoL Wiki

I've discovered how to get to the second floor. The clue is in the name and that's all I say. --Whap 14:43, 20 September 2006 (CDT)

  • I can't help but wonder why everyone who claims to have figured this puzzle out is being so secretive on what is intended to be the biggest KoL spoiler site on the net. --Dmagus 15:07, 20 September 2006 (CDT)
  • Because people enjoy making a profit off items not everyone can find, people enjoy knowing about something that no one else does. Not everyone plays KoL just to spoil their findings. This is not a spoiler site. It is a catalogue of the entire game. Furthermore, the fact that you believe that you someone who rarely if ever edits the wiki deserves to have information spoiled to him/her is disgusting. The sense of entitlement that KoLers have about this wiki is ridiculous. You expect someone else to do your work for you. Welcome to real life, it doesn't work that way.--SomeStranger (t|c) 15:33, 20 September 2006 (CDT)
  • It's "disgusting"? Please, have some sense of proportion.--Nabubrush 15:36, 20 September 2006 (CDT)
  • Dude. He wasn't insulting the people being secretive about it, he was just wondering why they were doing so - there's a difference between "OMGF I WANT INFO NAO" and "No one's spoiled it yet? Odd." Calm down a bit.--Hogulus 15:42, 20 September 2006 (CDT)
  • Just a note, although I rarely contribute to the wiki, it's because I rarely come across new information that hasn't already been posted. And let's not needlessly argue semantics here... if a "catalogue of the entire game" isn't a spoiler site, I don't know what is. The only thing not revealed on this website is the one thing Jick has specifically asked NEVER to be spoiled. So, a respectful spoiler site, but a spoiler site nonetheless. Now if you don't mind, I'll go back to trying to solve this puzzle just like everyone else. --Dmagus 15:54, 20 September 2006 (CDT)

There's a specific book in the bookshelf (picture) you can click on when this adventure pops up, it fixes the stairs and then you can go up to the next floor. Spoileriffic, but if you're as frustrated about this as I am, this should provide some welcome relief. This "discovery" provided by the concentrated effort of the folks at GKoL.

--Mordengaard 17:06, 20 September 2006 (CDT)

  • Yep, this is already on the page in the notes section.--SomeStranger (t|c) 17:18, 20 September 2006 (CDT)

Chapter 3: Twisted, Curdled, Corrupt Energy and You

This is part of obtaining the sauceror skill in the zone. --Veistran 19:06, 20 September 2006 (CDT)

There's no special message for Pastamancers if you pick up your class skill, and then try to read the book again, as it just defaults to original message. Assume it's the same for Saucerors, but one should check to be sure. --Ellyssa 11:58, 21 September 2006 (CDT)

  • It reverts to the original message because "You put the dictionary back on the shelf, for the next guy" and thus cannot use it anymore to read the book. --Quietust 12:28, 21 September 2006 (CDT)
    • Oh, oops, sorry about that! Selective reading on my part, somehow missed that glaring fact. Didn't realise the dictionary was left behind too. Thanks! --Ellyssa 15:56, 21 September 2006 (CDT)

Stat gains?

Are stat gains from books fixed? I asked because I just picked the moxie stat gain adventure (chapter 2 of 'love story') and got +39 stat points three times ina row. I remember getting less before so my tentative guess would be lvl^2 - 10 (I am level 7) which is i guess capped somewhere. If anyone has further data/hypotheses, share them! --Trendytotebag 19:03, 26 September 2006 (CDT)

Note: I just got +38, so perhaps there is a range but a small one. And additionally i was at 41 moxie and 61 buffed moxie. --Trendytotebag 19:05, 26 September 2006 (CDT)
