Talk:Terrible poem

From A KoL Wiki

This definitely has the feel of a tower item to me. Like the spiderweb and the firecracker and the can lid, you know? Low-level, low-damage/low-use combat items. Anyone else? --Unnatural20 09:12, 30 August 2008 (CDT)

Does this have any effect on getting through the Castle in the Sky? (as in, can it be in your inventory and not have the poetry book?)--Rivet rose iv 15:32, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Is poem 2 syllables? Because if it isn't, then the first line is only 4 syllables. I rarly hear anyone pronounce it "po-em" and it seems like a stretch. I would think it would be easier to simply make it "a terrible poem".--Phydeauxx 17:00, 2 September 2008 (CDT)

I hear it as 2. How do you say it with one? --Gils 17:29, 2 September 2008 (CDT)

  • apparently our american cousins prefer "pome" in the same way they do "squirl". --Evilkolbot 17:58, 2 September 2008 (CDT)
    • I live in USA and i've never heard poem as "pome". or "squirl" for that matter.--CG1:t,c,e 19:52, 2 September 2008 (CDT)
      • you should listen to the radio more. j&s have had several discussions about how many syllables "squirrel" has. "in the same way" is exactly right, though. that way being "most wouldn't, but a small but not insignificant number would." --Evilkolbot 06:23, 3 September 2008 (CDT)
      • I also have never heard anyone say "pome," it's "po-um" everywhere I've ever been. "Squirrel" typically has a shortened "e" that does not get enunciated clearly, but it is still present in most people's speech here in the USA. Also, I listen to the Jick&friends shows every time there is one (usually a day or two afterwards, from the archives); but whether or not I do has absolutely nothing to do with how most people pronounce various words here.--MattG987 16:27, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
