Talk:Terrifying Clown Suit

From A KoL Wiki

Fake Content?

This looks suspiciously like fake content. None of the clown items in-game refer to a costume, there's been no announcement about a costume, and I don't see anything about it on the forums. Has anyone got any actual proof of this costume? —Yendor 03:33, 15 January 2007 (CST)

  • It's true. i bought a bowtie and tried it out... it doesnt seem to show up in the drop down menu, but myself and everyone else show up as clowns. --Deranged Cat 03:48, 15 January 2007 (CST)
  • Yes, I, as being one of the major contributors of the content can confirm that it's not fake content. Of course, that doesn't mean much, being that I'm one of the main contributors... but still. Check the discussion that went on at Talk:Outfit#New Clown Outfit and Talk:Tattoo#Clown_Tattoo. --TheDotGamer 06:23, 15 January 2007 (CST)
  • I am sure it is not fake content. I am the one who brought this up in talk:Outfit, and changed the "needs content" to having the clown suit, too. If you try it out, you could find out it's not fake. --Coolguy00001 10:08, 15 January 2007 (CST)
  • Interestingly, when you view someone who is wearing this outfit (and you aren't wearing it as well), their avatar appears normal. --LegendaryBard 19:22, 15 January 2007 (CST)
  • Yup, not fake, it's real, I'll leave the new tattoo on my profile for a while if anyone cares to check. --Misanthrope 06:01, 16 January 2007 (CST)

Interesting. Given that

  1. The devs have always claimed that the outfit code won't allow more than one accessory
  2. None of the items show up as part of an Outfit
  3. The outfit doesn't show up in the Outfit dropdown

I'm guessing that this outfit isn't a quote-unquote real outfit in terms of the outfit code. I'm guessing they hacked it in manually. I wonder if we can convince them to do the same with the stainless steel and plexiglass (or just, you know, fix the outfit code).--Allanc 16:25, 17 January 2007 (CST)

I think at this point, this should be classified as another Easter Egg in the game.--Shoptroll 08:36, 27 September 2007 (CDT)

Tattoo

Just tried with several multis. The tattoo seems no longer to be available. --She ulli 23:46, 28 December 2007 (CST)

- This is the Pretentious Artist's message when you visit him in this outfit:

Please allow me to paint your portrait...

Nothing embodies the sheer terror and unpleasantness of childhood so much as the Clown. The Everyman shall see this painting and weep!

This is a new tattoo but the outfit does NOT appear in the 'outfits' drop-down menu.--Nospine 16:03, 18 January 2007 (CST)

I can confirm that the tattoo is either not available or there is more to it. However, it does still change avatars, and this effect does not take place with other outfits of equal or higher Clownosity. --Syrja 12:13, 31 December 2007 (CST)

This is official confirmation that the tattoo is available. I have it. --IkeofCrimea 19:17, 24 February 2008 (CST)

I can also confirm that the tattoo is available, as I just got it today. --SnufStyle420 19:35, 24 February 2008 (CST)

Halloween Content

This outfit does not have Halloween content. Darn. --LegendaryBard 23:02, 30 March 2007 (CDT)

  • Just to clarify for those who might be curious: It's not just that there is no Halloween adventure for this outfit; you are actually unable to go trick-or-treating in this outfit (likely due to it not acting like other outfits, so Halloween doesn't recognize it.)--Terion 17:39, 31 March 2007 (CDT)
    • You can now trick-or-treat in this outfit, but after 30 adventures I seem to be only getting the generic candy... Jihiro 23:54, 8 October 2007 (CDT)

Outfit ID

How do you find out an outfit's ID? --CG1:t,c,e 13:00, 31 March 2007 (CDT)

  • Usually, you'd be able to find out an outfit's ID by viewing the source of the drop down menu. In this case, it doesn't appear in the drop down menu so it's hard to use that method. --TheDotGamer 21:37, 31 March 2007 (CDT)

Epic Weapon Quest

I just did the Epic Weapon Quest with a Seal Clubber by using an acid-squirting flower in place of the bowtie. It worked fine. --Southwest 04:26, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

  • And I was able to do so as a pastamancer using the samw substitution, as well as using a ballon helmet instead of a foolscap cap. Maybe you only need 4 items? (or the helmet actually counts!) --Xeno The Morph 14:01, 25 June 2007 (CDT)
  • I used 4 items for the epic quest; clown wig, Big red nose, Clown shoes and Clown Belt. The requirement is more likely 4 "clown" related items and not the full custume (which requires a certain skill to obtain one of the items ;-) --Tahlin 17:36, 25 June 2007 (CDT)
  • Perhaps just 3 items; I succeeded in the epic as a Disco Bandit wearing only the bow tie, bloody clown pants, and clown shoes from this outfit. And just to verify, those three items alone did not unlock the tattoo.--Regnar 22:14, 25 June 2007 (CDT)
    • Okay, it's more specific than number of items; as lvl 7 SC, wearing Foolscap, flower, and bloody pants did not pass the test.--Regnar 16:59, 27 June 2007 (CDT)
    • Returning with clown wig, bloody pants, clown nose, clownskin belt, and acid flower worked for the quest, but again did not unlock the tattoo.--Regnar 17:21, 27 June 2007 (CDT)
    • Just failed with balloon helmet, bloody clown pants, acid-squirting flower, and big red clown nose.--Thelisafaerie 16:38, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
    • I was able to get past the door with the foolscap, balloon sword, bloody clown pants, acid-squirting flower, and big red clown nose. Though I'm guessing the balloon sword wasn't necessary (although I could be wrong). I was a level 8 Seal Clubber--Fettucini carabinieri 10:02, 3 July 2007 (CDT)

Has anyone tried getting past with just balloon and/or clownskin items? --Sparksol 08:25, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

For the sake of clarity, allow me to state clearly that the Clownosity algorhythm has been cracked...this outfit is not required.--Mis2027 17:30, 10 October 2007 (CDT)

Outfit Effect

Is anyone besides me unfortable with the idea that all this outfit does is convert avatars and give a tattoo? I mean, it's admittedly outside the classic outfit system, as there's no automatic equipping and it has all the weird features, and it obviously has a close relation to the Nemesis quest, but still, it seems like there may be more. Any suggestions?--Mis2027 17:30, 10 October 2007 (CDT)

I have on only the outfit, no other stat modifiers, and none of my stats are changed except for the ones given by the equipment itself. --Gondall 07:54, 17 January 2008 (CST)

Now official

It is now an official outfit that shows up in your selections, so you do not have to manually equip it. --Jzp 10:54, 4 January 2008 (CST)

Outfit effects

I am trying to determine this outfits' effects.

Stats before outfit (unequipped everything)

Stat: buffed amount (base)

Muscle: 123 (117)

Mysticality: 117 (129)

Moxie: 174 (165)

Stats while wearing clown outfit (and nothing else): Muscle: 123 (117)

Mysticality: 115 (129)

Moxie: 179 (165)

As you can see, my Mysticality decreased with 2 and my Moxie improved with 5. I believe these are the effects of the Terrifying Clown Suit, -2 Mysticality and +5 Moxie.

Lagorio

  • Nope. Foolscap fool's cap gives -2 Myst, +2 Moxie, and the polka-dotted bowtie gives +3 moxie. Outfit effects are additional effects that occur beyond the regular effects of the individual pieces of equipment. --TechSmurf 13:34, 22 March 2008 (CDT)
