Talk:That's My Favorite Kind of Contraption
Is there some sort of special mechanic for this? I'm having trouble getting it in Bad Moon- Is There a connection with the missing Kidney adventure, much like the Bugbear cookie/trophy adventures, where getting one removes the other?
I just received this adventure/skill while having the Missing Kidney effect. --Deedlee 23:38, 17 August 2007 (CDT)
There's really no basis for assuming the Missing Kidney effect is related to this effect. Both are Bad Moon-only adventures, and they don't have a lot else in common. I'm gonna go ahead and remove the Missing Kidney note at the bottom of the article - good spading, but it's not really necessary. --NoHassles 00:32, 18 August 2007 (CDT)
Actually, I guess they both occur at the same place, which is sorta atypical of Bad Moon adventures. In light of which I'll leave your note alone. --NoHassles 00:35, 18 August 2007 (CDT)
FWIW, I did not receive this adventure until I acquired the Missing Kidney effect.
Has anyone tried to HC perm Torso after completing the run in which this adventure was encountered? It's not unique to BM as the 7 Deadly Sins are, but since it is acquired through a BM mechanic, I'm not sure exactly how this will weigh out.--Jholewczynski 11:25, 24 August 2007 (CDT)
- - To answer my own question: yes, you can still HC perm Torso after obtaining it through this adventure.--Jholewczynski 13:30, 7 October 2007 (CDT)
It is definitely not necessary to have the Missing Kidney effect to get this adventure, as I encountered it some time after losing the effect but before level 11. It is likely the case, however, that if a Bad Moon adventure happens in the Forest, the Missing Kidney adventure always occurs before this one. --Ryalseth 19:46, 3 September 2007 (CDT)
I got this immediately after opening the Hidden Temple. Spent 10 turns looking for it just prior to using the map, no dice. --TechSmurf 02:19, 21 September 2007 (CDT)
Do the special shirt adventures (the ones that require you to have Torso Awaregness) not work if you receive the skill this way? I've just spent 60+ adventures in the Mine looking for the safety vest and another 50 or so in the resort looking for the ski shirt and failed miserably at both. --Algernon Mabus 16:16, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
- Right in the Vestibule! notes that Jick made a tweak to the adventure occurrence requirements for the vest. As for the vacation ski vest, assuming the ten adventures are distributed uniformly (not proven, so far as I know), there's a 9/10 chance that any one try will fail. Fifty adventures is roughly 17 tries, translating into a 16.7% chance of no ski vest, well within the realm of "the RNG loves you." --BagatelleT/C 22:53, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
- Another 81 adventures. Still no shirt. 3: --Algernon Mabus 15:44, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
