I think the damage you take when not ultrahydrated is based off your max HP; when I got turned into a skeleton (-50% all) the damage got significantly reduced as well. I didn't keep an accurate log, but it's a direction to look into. --Terion (talk) 03:45, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
Despite what one of the notes claims, the survival knife does stack with the compass. I just tested it myself : just ultrahydrated, 1% exploration; with compass alone 2% exploration, knife alone 3% exploration; knife and compass: 4% exploration. --Noskilz (talk) 01:40, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
