Spading

the panther i vsed was defeated with a damage of 128, if more people post we can get an approximate for its hp, even better if someone does it with a detectiveskull or whatever the damn things called.

Vampire cape

Is it just me or does the vampire cape work better then normal in this zone. --MoreCurious 05:38, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

Moxie for no hit?

I got hit every time with a Moxie of about 104, but at 129 I'm getting hit once per adventure. Anyone else have stats here? --Mustard 15:10, 4 July 2007 (CDT)

I was never getting hit (perhaps not even criticals, but I assume that's just RNG) with Moxie of 166. --MicheleColeman 11:13, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

Misc

I adventured here with a clover and got no special adventure. Don't be like me and get surprised when a Black Widow jumps you instead of getting something cool. --Darklight 02:30, 10 July 2007 (CDT)

Black Hole?

More than once, but I finally managed to see it in a session log this time, I have ended up in the Violet Fog when adventuring in the Black Forest. I couldn't say if it's tied to the semi-rare counter, but may be work checking out. --Stanley 14:52, 7 April 2008 (CDT)

  • that's a flashback. if you eat mushrooms you'll go back to the fog every once in a while. it's on the astral mushroom page. --Evilkolbot 12:54, 8 April 2008 (CDT)

Wad farming

I find this zone outstanding for farming twinkly wads, especially since the Antique gear was nerfed. I put Transcendent Olfaction on the Black Knight, and can get hundreds of wads per day - too many to use of course, but I'm hopeful the Travelling Trader will maybe one day return when I'm (1) online (2) not in Hardcore. istara 06:44, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

An Olith, Mon

Found an adventure that isn't listed. Here's the text:

As you're traipsing through the Black Forest, you encounter something strange -- a big, featureless black block, about 1 foot thick, 4 feet wide, and 9 feet tall. You hear a pounding of kettle drums as you approach it, and as you gaze into it, you begin to see scintillating patterns.

The patterns begin to teach you things, and as time passes, you get smarter and smarter. Eventually you get smart enough that the sound of the drums starts to annoy you, and a few seconds later you get smart enough to go behind the monolith, beat up the guy playing the drums, and steal them.

Evolution!

You gain 62 Mysteriousness. You acquire an item: black kettle drum (image: http://images.kingdomofloathing.com/itemimages/kettledrum.gif)

Item description: This is a big-ass drum. If Zarathustra was about to perform at the Apollo, you could use this to introduce him.

Type: ranged weapon (2-handed drum) Power: 140 Moxie Required: 55 Selling Price: 123 Meat.

Enchantment: Moxie +5 Maximum HP/MP +30

Combat Rate

Looking over the noncoms in the are, none of them are truly noncombats. You've got a superlikely, a one-time, and the cobbler, which works occurs depending on the amount of blackberries you have and if you've refused it or not. So! 100% combat rate. --TechSmurf 05:22, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Above was wrong before revamp (+10% combat eliminated the drum). Combat rate is 90%. Data is here:http://kolspading.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=338--Lotsofphil 20:44, 8 February 2012 (CET)

Ezandora respaded after the latest revamp. Combat rate is probably 95%, with a maximum of 5 turns between NCs. --Psly4mne (talk) 12:08, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

Exploration mechanic following the May 19, 2014 update

I don't feel I have a full grasp on the exploration mechanic to unlock the black market, but it's not as simple as a flat 24 points of progress. Here's some data along with a working theory: http://kolspading.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=440&start=0 --Ungavva (talk) 12:03, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

Unlisted exploration message

You find a woman sitting on a stump and repeatedly uttering the nonsense word "bambalam." "Whoah, Black Betty," you say to her, "start talking some sense or I'm gonna leave." She doesn't, so you do.

I got this exploration message today, and it doesn't seem to be in the main page. Minnakht (talk) 18:02, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

  • There seems to be a number of messages still missing from the main page, this is one of them. --Rick Tyger (talk) 08:42, 1 August 2021 (UTC)
    • Another that seems to occur more rarely: "You see a pair of black straps hanging off a tree ahead of you. They look like they'd make good suspenders, but when you touch one, it's all sticky! They're made of molasses! Gross." --Rick Tyger (talk) 08:44, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
