Talk:The Council of Loathing
Water Balloons
- I don't seem to be able to get the effect a second time. --Evilkolbot (talk) 14:17, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
- I got the "go see the council" message again today (4*28 rounds) but didn't get the buff. hmm. --Evilkolbot (talk) 11:15, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
- With more tosses i got the message/buff, but i also was a winner. --Evilkolbot (talk) 11:17, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
- Do you have to beat yourself? What happens with the second and later winners? --Evilkolbot (talk) 11:22, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
- CMMoter said he'd put in a message for "you're in the lead." This might be the one on the page but keep an eye out. --Evilkolbot (talk) 19:55, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
Miscellaneous
- The part about the Meat car should be removed, right?
I didn't get the Slay Your Nemesis Quest at Level 4, and I just got it at Level 5 instead of Level 4. Is this a change, or does it show up at some stat level between 4 and 5? --Baltar 10:55, 9 June 2006 (CDT)
- During the time of the Mafia, the council adjourned for several days and I couldn't do any quests. I remember this clearly because this was at the time when I first created my account and wasn't able to do anything but look at the adjourn text. It was either November or October. Any chance somebody has the in-game text?--Dehstil (t|c) 15:20, 9 August 2006 (CDT)
I don't know if this is posted anywhere else (I doubt it is) but I am getting a strange sentence from the Council.
I'm in the middle of the lvl 12 quest, and after saying their piece about ending the war, they add "Unfortunately, there are no more tasks required of you by the Council at this time. Return later, when more content has been added." This is along with something to do with a current quest. Just thought it was worth mentioning.--Pastian 11:31, 9 July 2007 (CDT)
- After ascending today (5 Dec), on visiting the council I get the message:
"Aaaahhh! No! Don't kill... oh wait, it's just you. We thought you were... never mind."
A lead in to the crimbo content or a new quest perhaps? I certainly didn't see the message before ascending. -Bigquack
Hehe, I posted this to the advent calender talk the other day, they told me it's from the V mask. --Plater (t|c) 06:08, 5 December 2007 (CST)
Heh, I can confirm that. Took me a minute to figure out what was going on. "What, is my equipment just that badass... oh, the mask xP" --Santasassassin 17:24, 8 December 2007 (CST)
The prerequisite for the Orc Chasm quest (doing the king quest) no longer seems to apply. Can someone confirm this for me, or was it perhaps a one-time requirement? --Digi 18:01, 11 January 2008 (CST)
I can confirm that this no long seems to apply, at least to Bad Moon, not sure about regular or hardcore. --Klaithe 00:34, 28 April 2008 (CDT)
I just ascended an alt and have this Council message:
- We don't have anything you can help us with right now, Adventurer. You should go explore a little, get your bearings, and come back when you're a little stronger.
- You could check out the Outskirts of Cobb's Knob, in the Nearby Plains.
- Or maybe the Haunted Pantry is more your style -- you can find it on the Right Side of the Tracks.
- Another option is The Sleazy Back Alley, on Wrong Side of the Tracks. But you didn't hear it from us.
Possibly because I'm level 1, just opened the letter and haven't done anything yet?--Pastangum 01:39, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
- I've seen this, too, but forgot to look into adding it to the page. --Flargen 04:06, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
New level 1 text
Say, it's a new Adventurer! Welcome, welcome! Boy, we sure can use people like you right about now.
Oh, but where are our manners? We're the Council of Loathing. And you are...
$playername! There's a hero's name if we ever heard one. Listen, we're gonna have plenty of work for you, but first, you should probably spend a little time getting your bearings.
You look a little underpowered, so maybe you can head off to one of the less dangerous parts of the Kingdom. Let's say...
New Area Unlocked The Haunted Pantry, on the Right Side of the Tracks in Seaside Town.
New Area Unlocked The Outskirts of Cobb's Knob, on the Nearby Plains.
New Area Unlocked The Sleazy Back Alley, on the Wrong Side of the Tracks in Seaside Town.
Come back after you've explored a little, and we'll be ready with your first assignment.
