Talk:The Dark and Dank and Sinister Cave/NS11
It's well past NS13 and I'm in the cave right now, having passed all the challenges, save for the epic conflict. --Molotovnight 17:53, 25 August 2007 (CDT)
Blame Riff. He's working on it, and must have gotten sidetracked.--Ashallond 19:15, 25 August 2007 (CDT)
I think this quest goes beyond "sidetracked," and is currently well past "neglected." --Olaf the Hungry 00:43, 22 July 2008 (CDT)
Is there any way to find out when this quest will be re-implemented? It just seems kinda crazy -- all the content they've added since NS13 release, and this still hasn't been fixed :-( Mamph 16:14, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
Nope. Don't ask, and assume that it'll be "two weeks". Riff says that he's working on it, but it won't do any good to ask about it. --Valliant 05:25, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
A loud POP! from the direction of Riff
I was just adventuring on a friend's long un-ascended profile to play through her Nemesis Quest. When I got there, there was a door at the entrance of the cavern with the following description:
- "A little way down the tunnel, you encounter a large stone slab blocking your path. It features an elaborate bas-relief carving, which depicts a man fighting a crowd of little tiny people. No, wait -- the man has a beard, so he must be a giant, and the people are normal-sized, I guess. The giant, oddly, appears to be wearing a tunic made of leaves, and is either wearing half of a giant cabbage for a hat, or else he just has a really strange haircut.
- Below this scene, another is carved -- it appears to be a close-up view, of one of the little people preparing to stab the giant in the ankle with what looks like some kind of extremely short spear.
- There is a large hole in the wall next to the slab, the opening of a vertical shaft which drops away into darkness, like a garbage chute. Presumably, you're meant to drop something into the hole to make the door open."
It then gave the option to drop any item in your inventory down the chute. Since I was on my friend's character, I didn't want to start shoving random items down the hole, so I searched the wiki for it. I can't find anything about it on this page or the Nemesis Quest page. Is it new content? Or am I just a n00b? (Also, sorry about the length)--Glarn48 19:56, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- yay! riff gets his finger out. this is new, any more? how should we deal with archiving the old content? --Evilkolbot 20:19, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- Perhaps archive the old page in its entirety as "The Dark and Dank and Sinister Cave (NS11)", and start fresh? If Riff has spent this much time working on it, it's not likely to have any resemblance to the old cave.
There wasn't too much. I have a screenshot of the door. Also another small quote: "You step into the cave, and pause a moment to let your eyes adjust to the dim light. The air in here is stagnant, and a foul odor reaches your nostrils. It smells like...evil. And also...destiny. And also like someone's been keeping cheese in an old stock." Once again: no clue what's old and new. I've only been around for 6 months.--Glarn48 20:27, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- This is all new. Please link to the screenshot you have?--Valliant 20:35, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
http://yfrog.com/7bnewtrlp That's the only shot of the door that I got.--Glarn48 20:44, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- audible sigh* And just like that, it disappears. She tried to drop a dense meat stack in the hole and got: "You attempt to put your dense meat stack in the hole, but some sort of invisible force pushes it away. It's possible you simply don't have whatever the door is looking for -- perhaps you need to do some more exploring?" That's all she copied, though she says there was another paragraph...She went to our Clan Hall, but when she went back to the Mountains the whole Cavern had disappeared. She still has the quest in her log, but no access to the cavern. Just as you think it's within reach...--Glarn48 21:12, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
Given the recent tremors and suchlike, I'm willing to bet it will culminate in a large, epic quake that will uncover the quest. Expect to see this opening up soon. *squee!*--Terry 21:56, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
