Talk:The Mall of Loathing
Can you sell a mall in ronin or hardcore? --Unnatural20 10:53 17 Dec 2005 (Eastern Standard Time)
- My Hardcore multi cannot sell her store while in Hardcore. I don't know about Ronin. -Zilly 13:23, 17 December 2005 (Central Standard Time)
- Aright, thanks. I'll see if I can find anything on ronin. --Unnatural20 17:53 18 Dec 2005 (Eastern Standard Time)
The whole section on scamming needs to be rewritten. Price-switching isn't available anymore, and I have NFC (no freaking clue) what AR means, which means most people won't know that either.
In fact, I think the whole page needs rewritten, because it's not laid out very well. -Zilly 13:23, 17 December 2005 (Central Standard Time)
Should their be a discussion about the store managment screen? or would that make the article too convuluted? --LiquidPhire 02:40, 16 Sep 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

I found that when you have no items to add to your mall store you get this message.
"You have no sellable items in your inventory. They say that one is the loneliest number you'll ever do, but, actually, it's zero."
Mall Page, revamped
This page was marked for a re-write, so I did what I could to help it out. I don't know anything about current scams, however, so someone knowledgable will need to expand on that.
I couldn't decide whether the available avatars for shopkeepers and storefronts should be shown here but I decided against it because:
- I think it would take up too much space
- I don't actually know how to put pictures on the pages. I'm new to this.
If there are any problems with my update, feel free to change what needs to be changed, but I think this layout is clearer and contains more information than the previous article. --Ablotial 23:22, 15 January 2006 (Central Standard Time)
--Schmuck 16:14, 11 March 2006 (CST) A minor price scam if you look at kol.coldfront.com is price bumping: Set your mall price high. Have a second account "buy" it. Sell it back for the inflated price. Their average price gets spiked. Price dropping (selling for 1 meat) is not as prevalent.
- what does AR mean again? --Evilkolbot 17:29, 6 April 2006 (CDT)
- AR = Anti-Raffle (fixed) --Hellion 17:47, 6 April 2006 (CDT)
- If you want the message given when a price is changed or an item goes out of stock it's this:
This store doesn't have that item at that price. Perhaps someone beat you to it, or the shop owner changed the price of the item while you were browsing. --Damuna 17:08, 26 September 2006 (CDT)
This page says that the advertising budget is square-rooted at the end of every Sunday (it also says that on KoL itself), however when your old budget is 1 Meat then the new budget is 0 Meat. I don't know the exact mechanics of it, somebody might want to look into it--JiK4eva 10:48, 9 October 2006 (CDT)
- It is square rooted (rounded down if not even) on sundays, except the √1 is 1, which would end up with many players' budgets stuck at 1. So instead, from 1, it goes to 0. --JRSiebz (☎|§|‡) 19:43, 9 October 2006 (CDT)
Selling stores and stock
This may be a really stupid couple of questions, but I couldn't find any indication of the answers either on the page or here, so I'll ask. It may be worth putting the answers on the page in case anyone else wonders about this...
Can you sell a store if it still has stock in it? and if you can, where does the stock go? --Kay Dekker 18:08, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- Just tested this for you. Attempting to sell a store that has items in it yields the message "You can't sell a store while it still has an inventory." --timrem 18:44, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you! I realised after posting that the information is actually available from the Game Messages page, but I've added a line to the Mall page about when stores can't be sold. --Kay Dekker 19:17, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
Valid Characters
In trying to be creative I found the extended-ASCII/UTF-8 symbol for currency can be used but "¤" comes up as "¤". Is there a list of valid characters outside of the ASCII range?--"Your reason is treason" - Kasabian (talk) 16:00, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
