Talk:The Manor in Which You're Accustomed

From A KoL Wiki

This is one of the EIGHT JEW GNOMES discovery adventures. I came across this adventure at level 12 on my account Fredrick Wicklesburg in the Haunted Pantry, and it replaced the haunted pantry with Spookyraven Manor.

I'm pretty sure "The Manor in Which You're Accustomed" refers to a divorce settlemnt, where the husband has to support his wife "In the manner in Which she has become Accustomed", or it could refer to this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/guide/articles/t/tothemanorborn_7776370.shtml --Xenokilla 13:11, 20 September 2006 (CDT) Xenokilla

I just walked into this with a level 3 (Mox9) AT in my first ascension (hardcore) right after getting 1st level guild access. I definitely didn't do anything special, at least not out of the ordinary. (spooky staff, mariachi pants, dirty hobo gloves)--Tara Phinstashun 13:29, 20 September 2006 (CDT)

I just accessed the Spookyraven Manor with four accounts. All of them got this adventure on the 25th consecutive adventure in the Haunted Pantry. Can anyone test this to see if that's how it works, or if it's just the RNG messing with me?--Silophant 19:41, 21 September 2006 (CDT)

My main account (OxyCore lvl.4 Pastamancer) managed to get it on his first foray into the pantry.--Mister Shiggedy 02:19, 22 September 2006 (CDT)

My main account got in at first adventure. Then I ascended and got it on the first shot again. I would venture a guess and say it's a superlikely adventure. --Tripwood 03:00, 22 September 2006 (CDT)

I am wondering if it becomes a superlikely, or even a mandatory adventure once you have gotten it already. My main and my usual multi both get it on the first try each time now that they have been there before. I made a new account today, and after about 30 adventures I finally got it. --J12601 20:13, 20 October 2006 (CDT)

So far, every time I've gone to unlock the Manor I've gotten this adventure on the first try, including when it was first rolled out (pretty sure). It's possible that it's linked to number of ascensions (I have nearly 60) or perhaps experience level (I'm always level 4 by the time I try opening it up). --Quietust 20:19, 20 October 2006 (CDT)

This was a brand new account, less than an hour old, and was level 6 at the time. I'm thinking the ascensions probably plays a part as well. I was busy with other stuff when it was first introduced, and seem to recall it being a 1-low number of adventures for it on my regular accounts. Maybe brand new accounts get to play around in there still, with the intent being that all content is new content to a new player. --J12601 21:06, 20 October 2006 (CDT)

  • After extensive testing by wexer9, it has been found that this adventure occurs after 25-26 adventures. Note that the testing was done with non-ascended characters.

Number of turns to open the manor

Since Jick fixed this adventure to occur the way he originally intended (never taking less than 4 adventures to show up, decreasing with ascensions), I thought maybe we could start keeping track of roughly how long it takes, and maybe determine what the formula is. Again, someone with a little more orginazational skills may want to toss a table or something in here like on the Mr. Klaw page.

Ascension # turn on which manor appeared
28 4
1 approx. 20 (I wasn't counting)
2 37
3 22

I'm pretty sure this is uncorrectful. My observation has been that the likelihood of getting this adventure increases somehow with the character's experience level. Why would so many people have reported getting it on their first adventure in the Pantry? Because they didn't start adventuring in the Pantry at first level - they leveled up elsewhere first until they were high enough that this adventure was a certainty. I haven't done any formal information gathering, but I've had a few ascensions now in which I did a fair amount of adventuring in the pantry at level 1 or 2, and didn't get this adventure. Then I went off and did other stuff, and the next time I went back to the Pantry (at level 7 or so) the Manor appears immediately. If the number of adventures is somehow predetermined then the odds against this would be pretty steep indeed. Spazdor 15:19, 1 April 2007 (CDT) -Spazdor

On my 12th ascension it has taken me about 15 adventures to get this. --Raz 11:54, 22 April 2007 (CDT)

As a level 2 DB with 0 ascensions, this was my 8th adventure. --TheArchivist 13:21, 21 September 2007 (CDT)

What is the source of the notion that it can never take fewer than four adventures to unlock? My character Timmy the Spork, a Disco Bandit who has ascended 68 times, just got The Manor in Which You're Accustomed on the third adventure of the current run. I thought at first I acquired an extra adventure without noticing it (by, say, V for Vivala mask) but when I checked my character page, it confirmed that I had only spent 3 adventures and have unlocked spookyraven manor. I took a screenie of both my char page and the page with the manor, but I'm not sure that there's any way to verify that those two things happened at the same time.--Nevalkarion 20:18, 27 September 2008 (EST)

Level 1 BM AT 11 ascensions: 12 advies, including dolphin king's map, the baker advie, and the dead guy with a can lid in his back. --Blzbob 21:31, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

I just got the adventure after skipping a noncombat, this would mean it is not delay()+floor as skipped noncombats shouldn't do anything to those counters. Could it be 1 x % superlikely with delay()+floor of 8 and another superlikely with delay()+floor of 10 or some such?--Sambal 21:13, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
