Manhole (triad factory clear)

Thankfully, I didn't have any reason to go back in there. I was lucky to have made it out of there with my hat unruined in the first place.

  • Has anyone else noticed that this (and as such an attempt at the White Dragon Fang) appears to be once per ascension? It seems not to reset on rollover, as opposed to every other Jar.--Mis2027 (talk) 14:35, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

A Crowd of Paradegoers

The annual New Year's Day parade was always a surprise to me, since for some reason it was on a different day every time. A different month, some years. Colorful paper lanterns were strung from the signposts, little kids were setting off firecrackers (obscuring the ever-present sound of gunfire), and a train of lanterns, dancers, and floats snaked their way through the streets, all the way out of Chinatown. Lucky bastards. I would have liked to get a closer look, but the crowd was packed like sardines, and nobody was willing to give up their spot. Well, those grapes were probably sour anyway.

Post quest

I stepped into the crowd to check out the parade, and the people moved to let me through, smiling and patting me on the shoulder as they recognized me. It was quite a sight, even to my cynical eyes. Colorful paper lanterns glowed in the gathering dimness as the the sun began to set. Girls with ribbons in their hair and long silk robes twirled and spun and danced, free of any weight the world tried to put on their shoulders. People sang, and cheered, and laughed.

And then I saw the dragon. It was pearl-white, with eyes of flame, and it twisted and snaked and danced its way down the street toward me. As it passed, the huge lion head turned to face me, and for just a moment I thought I saw it wink.

I stepped into the street, and began to follow it. It picked up speed, and I matched its pace, whirling and dancing down the street. I may even have laughed.

I chased that dragon all the way out of Chinatown.

Chinatown Tenement

This crumbling tenement building would have been condemned long ago, if people weren't already cramming three families into an apartment. The door was locked, and I assumed it could only be to keep the burglars inside so they wouldn't bother the shopkeepers next door. I shrugged. Didn't have any business in there anyway.

Cultural Confusion

It would seem that the Suspicious-Looking Guy has a rather confusing past - it takes place in Chinatown, yet there are yakuza (Japanese mafia) and their headquarters has the distinctly Japanese name "Shiawase-Mitsuhama Zaibatsu"... --Quietust (t|c) 14:47, 4 January 2013 (CET)

  • I'm hardly the expert on either criminal organizations or the naming-processes of buildings in foreign city districts, but can't said organizations just oppress people wherever they feel like it? I'd expect the same goes for naming their building. When I was running some sort of criminal business in the Suspicious-Looking Guy's Shady Past, I'd be tempted to name it "Böse Weltherrschafts AG"... ;) --Yatsufusa 19:24, 4 January 2013 (CET)
    • Or, without having played through this myself, the haze of drugs the guy has taken have mixed his memories with templates from movies archetypes of collective memory. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 19:57, 4 January 2013 (CET)

Frequency

I have email from TPTB that state that this zone is only avialble ONCE per run. Is this true? I thought I had done this zone twice (on different days). djve 06:01, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

  • I can confirm that you can't use another jar during the same ascension after you've resolved the full quest line. --Yatsufusa (talk) 11:11, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
