Talk:Tropical Crimbo Duds
Outfit Effects:
According to last night's show, the Tropical Crimbo Duds have the exact same effect as the Crimbo Duds. Some will have to confirm this however with the actual duds.--Rennej 11:55, 26 December 2006 (CST)
Well, what is the effect? Crimbo Duds effect is unknown --Killerrabbit 14:10, 26 December 2006 (CST)
- That might have been a reference to the effects of the individual parts. The Tropical Crimbo hat, sword and pants have the exact same power and enchantments as their non-tropical counterparts.--Buttons 07:21, 27 December 2006 (CST)
i need someone to double check this for me but it seems to give extra adventures for any booze in a coconut shell.--Messskid 19:47, 26 December 2006 (CST)Messskid
- I tried it but got 11 adventures from a fuzzbump I'll keep trying though incase it's just a 1 increase (unlikely) --Whap 10:30, 27 December 2006 (CST)
I'm seeing more non-combat adventures while wearing this. Anecdotal: so far in 10-20 adventures at the castle, 5 wheels and 3 cats --Killerrabbit 09:59, 27 December 2006 (CST)
- Maybe helping towards quests? 4 advs in the road the the white citadel and I got the catnip (in my first turn) and found the cat. Maybe drops quest Items? after seeing the citadel I instantly got the glider and then 2 turns later had done it. --Whap 10:36, 27 December 2006 (CST)
- Also started and finished the artist quest is 5 turns --Whap 10:40, 27 December 2006 (CST)
- I think an increase in non-combats is unlikely, and you'll need a lot more than 20 adventures to show it -- more like 500 or so. The faster superlikelies (glider, artist items) hypothesis is interesting -- one way to spade this would be to hit the billiards room for several hundred adventures each with and without the tropical crimbo duds, auto-selling your pool cue as soon as you get it. (The pool cue adventure is suspected to be superlikely) --DirkDiggler 13:00, 27 December 2006 (CST)
•I spent well over 200 adventures attempting to complete the artist quest in tropical crimbo duds and was unsucsesful--Messskid 21:50, 28 December 2006 (CST)
- Even without the duds it shouldn't take that long. Maybe you already had the items or missed the adventures (If you click the link too many times). --Whap 09:47, 29 December 2006 (CST)
•That's what i thought but a little while after posting i got the last item i needed--Mesth 21:33, 29 December 2006 (CST)
On the Radio Show, Jick said that this outfit and the Crimbo Duds have the same effect (whatever that might be).--Foggy 22:16, 29 December 2006 (CST)
pherhaps a special gift on crimbo or special adventures in crimbo areas?--Mesth 13:46, 23 January 2007 (CST)
Outfit Effect
200 turns in the beanbat chamber with no other equipment, a sandworm, and a passive +30% item drops gave 134 beans. Expected would be 130 beans. I'll need to throw more turns at it to be sure, but it doesn't look like an +items bonus. --TechSmurf 14:32, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Turns | Known Bonus |
Expected Beans |
Actual Beans |
---|---|---|---|
200 | +30% | 130 | 134 |
400 | +0% | 200 | 211 |
100 | -90% | 5 | 5 |
So, looks like there's no +item bonus. Also, never saw any meat drops outside the expected range. --TechSmurf 07:03, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
As an FYI, for most outfit spading, I've been using scuba gear (-100%) and penalties to override any passives, then testing in various regions. I worry that one of the unspaded outfits might affect a specific type of item drop (Booze drops, food drops, etc.) and spading the beanbat chamber won't cover that. Just a suggestion.--Foggy 18:27, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- If you're going the negative approach, I suggest you use the digital realm, instead. Everything there is at least a 60% drop and there are 3 on every monster. Makes it very, very quick to spade out whether you have been pushed over the -100% total or not. --Flargen 19:51, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- Good call, thanks. Also, I doubt that the (Tropical) Crimbo Duds have an enchantment specific to any particular kind of item-- those didn't show up in the game till a few years later. --TechSmurf 00:13, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- The check for category-specific item drops is a general spading technique I've been using for all outfits. The rice bowl (+20% Food Drops) has a much lower item number than the Tropical Crimbo items. (They are higher than the original Crimbo Duds which are supposed to have same effect, so I think your point is valid, but for a different reason.) While checking the 8-Bit realm does yield faster results, it will be ineffective with any outfit with an off-hand item. (Not applicable here, but applicable in general).--Foggy 17:21, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
