Talk:Turtle Tamer
Notes're still claiming that Spectral Snapper knowledge is lost :) --Yupsi 04:41, 24 September 2006 (CDT)
Need info on new turtle tamer content. --Lukarnis 06:31, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
What happened to old skills?
Something I was curious about: If you had Spectral Snapper or the old Tao of the Terrapin marked permanent, do you still have it, or was it replaced by the new skills? --Gothhenge 09:10, 17 March 2006 (CST)
- It was automatically replaced with the new skll. Not such a bad thing really since almost every single replacement is really cool.--SomeStranger 09:41, 17 March 2006 (CST)
Combos
Head + Knee + Shield Combo (13 MP) note: never misses, opponent cannot counterattack
Shield in hand (er, well, offhand,) you bull rush your opponent like Moses, overwhelming his defense.
You hit for 57 (+1) damage. BAM! SMACK! SPLAT! SPLAT! SPLAT! ZOT! WHACK! WHAM!
You follow up the attack with a vicious headbutt, delivering 21 additional damage.
After that, you deliver a fierce knee to the groin (or groin-analogue) of your opponent, doing 12 extra damage. Your opponent doubles over in pain, and falls over. It's even more painful than a boot to the head (yah, yah.)
You brain him with your shield for 16 damage. Your fierce blow leaves your opponent confused. Now he knows that whenever you wield your mighty shield, all those who chose to oppose your shield shall yield.
Head + Knee Combo (8 MP)
You hit for 65 (+1) damage. KAPOW! POW! KERBLAM! WHACK! WHACK! KAPOW! WHAMMO! WHAM! KAPOW!
You follow up the attack with a vicious headbutt, delivering 19 additional damage.
After that, you deliver a fierce knee to the groin (or groin-analogue) of your opponent, doing 15 extra damage.
Head + Shield Combo (9 MP)
Shield in hand (er, well, offhand,) you bull rush your opponent like Moses, overwhelming his defense.
You hit for 58 (+1) damage. KERBLAM! BOOF! POW! ZAP! ZAP! KAPOW! BONK! ZOT!
You follow up the attack with a vicious headbutt, delivering 18 additional damage.
You brain him with your shield for 12 damage. Your fierce blow leaves your opponent dazed. Now he knows that whenever you wield your mighty shield, all those who chose to oppose your shield shall yield.
Knee + Shield Combo (10 MP)
Shield in hand (er, well, offhand,) you bull rush your opponent like Moses, overwhelming his defense.
You hit for 61 (+1) damage. WHAM! ZOT! WHAMMO! WHACK! ZOT! WHACK! ZOT! KAPOW!
After that, you deliver a fierce knee to the groin (or groin-analogue) of your opponent, doing 14 extra damage. Your opponent doubles over in pain, and falls over. It's even more painful than a boot to the head (yah, yah.)
You brain him with your shield for 15 damage. Your fierce blow leaves your opponent confused. Now he knows that whenever you wield your mighty shield, all those who chose to oppose your shield shall yield.

Added a note to the "note about combos" clarifying how you can not use combos unless you are a turtle tamer.--Practitioner of Saucy Arts 19:06, 12 May 2006 (CDT)
The existence of combos could use a more prominent mention. Perhaps rearrange things so it is more like Moxious Maneuver's mention on the Accordion Thief page? drachefly 14:03, 21 July 2006 (EDT)

Turtle Tamer Combos
I've found that with 148 Moxie, I can easily handle anything the HitS and the Castle and the Haunted Bedroom has to throw at me. Simply by using the Headbutt, Kneebutt, Shieldbutt combo once (and sometimes twice in the HitS and to fight the Jilted Mistress) will delevel them enough for me to hit them. My equipment at the time:
Level 12 HCO Chrome Helmet Turtle (used this to increase Headbutt damage) Antique Spear Snarling Wolf Shield (the +40 HP one, though the +6[?] Strength shield might be better?) 3x Sneaky Pete's Breath Spray Tiny Maracas
This seems to make HCO ascension awefully easy for the late game, at least for me. I haven't accumulated a pile of Hardcore Permanent skills yet, however (only Mad Looting Skillz, and I'm taking the +5 Familiar passive skill)
One question: If I Hardcore Perm the -butt skills, can I use the combos even though not a turtle tamer? This doesn't seem to be addressed in the TT article.

Stacking Astral Shell and Ghostly Shell
A question I haven't found the answer to: If you use both Ghostly Shell (+80 Dam Absorption) AND Astral Shell (+80 Dam Absorption) do you get +160 Absorption? If so (or even if not), this should be noted. Stickyhands 17:55, 7 May 2007 (CDT)
NS 13
I notice that Empathy and Ghostly Shell have both been reduced from 10 turns to 5. Hypothesis #1: Have all TT skills been reduced in duration? Hypothesis #2: Is there a TT piece of equipment (an epic weapon, possibly) that makes the TT skills last longer (like the Rock and Roll Legend does for the AT)? ManyFold 08:57, 25 June 2007 (CDT)
- Second hypothesis confirmed: a Mace of the Tortoise allows me to cast 10 turns of a spell. ManyFold 08:57, 25 June 2007 (CDT)
Buff Duration
If you equip a Mace of the Tortoise in your weapon slot and a Chelonian Morningstar in your offhand slot, then buffs last for 10 turns. Is this important enough to be added to the page? You shouldn't really have them that way round anyway as it does less damage, not sure why I did exactly. --JiK4eva 18:45, 2 January 2008 (CST)
- It's already noted on the page. --Chunky_boo 22:05, 2 January 2008 (CST)
uuuuuhhhmmmm.....
Some major troll broke the links today, i cant access the disco bandit page, it leads me to Disco_bandit.GIF and its a picture of the accordian thief, the accordian thief pic is a female seal clubber,i think its a side effect of the place losing all its bandwidth for a few mins the other day,so in other words, either its my comp or theres a serious troll here.--Makutaran 12:04, 22 May 2008 (CDT)
oh yeah, i posted in this spot becuase this is the only class page uneffected, ill call today turtle tamer luck day, a.k.a the day 84% of the class pages broke--Makutaran 12:10, 22 May 2008 (CDT)
"Newt Herder" reference
- The level 5 title, Newt Herder, may allude to a quote from the Star Wars movie The Empire Strikes Back, in which Princess Leia calls Han Solo a "scruffy-looking nerf herder." Also, Nerf Herder is the name of the band that is best known for the theme song to Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The first sentence seems a bit unlikely to me but still a possible jump. The second, though, is an obvious reference to the first, and doesn't have anything to do with the title "Newt Herder" except through the "nerf herder" quote. Is it common practice to leave such references in? If not, I'm deleting it.--Allispaul 18:42, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
