Talk:Unconscious Collective

From A KoL Wiki
  • "Having the UC in the terrarium grants three free rests"? Not today, it didn't.

--Wertperch 21:40, 24 January 2013 (CET)

  • It has every day up until now, though I can't confirm/deny anything for you.

--Cannonfire40 22:33, 24 January 2013 (CET)

  • Although the blue canary nightlight should ensure "your Unconscious Collective dream sweet dreams", equipping the blue canary nightlight seems not to make any difference in the 'quality' of the dreams. Still waking up e.g. shivering (like whith Snow Suit or plastic pumpkin bucket).

--FatCatPeter 16:46, 1 January 2013 (CET)

  • Seems to grant three (possibly more?) Free Rests per day like Disco Nap and Disco Power Nap. Each time I got a UC Dream message when resting, it did not use an adventure or remove any turns from my buffs. This on a Accordian Thief just starting Class Act with no accessable skills.

--TiwazTyrsfist 18:36, 1 January 2013 (CET)

  • So, 7 free rests per day that override (do not stack with) your other ones.

--Cannonfire40 04:44, 2 January 2013 (CET)

    • Seven, non-stacking? That seems weird, and possibly exploitable. More likely, it adds 3 free rests (totaling up to 7 if you have all the free-rest skills) and gives a dream message whenever you use a free rest (even if the familiar didn't provide it). I don't have one, though, so I can't test this. --Guyy 07:41, 3 January 2013 (CET)
    • That...makes a lot of sense. --Cannonfire40 08:38, 3 January 2013 (CET)
  • In order to have dreams, it is only necessary to have the Unconscious Collective in the terrarium, it is not necessary to have the Unconscious Collective equipped.

--FatCatPeter 10:51, 3 January 2013 (CET)

  • Just bought one, and then went back into another Zombie Slayer run, and was pleasantly surprised to see that my Collective, though dead (with it's little RIP headstone and all) still gives it's free rests. Not a big thing, but some extra HP never hurt. --Terion 05:32, 25 January 2013 (CET)

Dream Elements

I don't know what all this means and where it will lead to. Maybe it is important to know about the recurring elements and the dream structure.

Dream Messages

Here are some Dream Messages, to start off:

You find yourself standing in your office, in the middle of a trackless desert wasteland. You hear a harsh buzzing sound, and an unusually large moon shines above you. You think you hear the Guy Made of Bees shout "<playername>." from somewhere nearby, but you don't see anyone.

You find a plain scythe resting atop a burning plinth, and pick it up. It changes into a ragged spoon, and it's slippery, like oil or eels.

You hear crickets chirping in the distance as the world shatters like a mirror, and then you are in a rented tuxedo, at the bottom of a rocky canyon. The wind howls through the trees, and suddenly a shining white horse stands before you. "Look both ways before crossing the street."

"I understand," you say.

"You must not forget. They will follow. You must not forget. Remember me!"

And then, eerie jazz music swirls around you and a bright light pierces the gloom. You wake up, extremely puzzled.

You find yourself standing near a small gurgling brook, in a long featureless hallway. The wind howls through the trees, and everything begins to smell like cinnamon. Someone who looks exactly like you approaches you, and whispers something in your ear.

"They are coming. There is no telephone. <playername>? This is your destiny."

"What?" you reply.

"Where are you?"

You hear mocking laughter in the distance as a flash of light blinds you, and then you are in a field of wildflowers, near a comfortable-looking leather armchair. You can smell burning flesh, and suddenly a shadowy gray-cloaked figure stands before you. "Trust your senses."

"I understand," you say.

"Take the human skull. You betrayed me. <playername>!"

And then, a thick white fog obscures the scenery and an angelic choir begins to sing. You wake up feeling unusually calm.

You find yourself standing in a hot air balloon, at the bottom of the ocean. You hear crickets chirping in the distance, and the scenery twists and melts around you. Humphrey Bogart and a shining white horse stare at you expressionlessly.

"Can you hear? Don't take the envelope. Did you finish your homework?" they say, in unison, and hand you a brass dagger and a dusty scythe.

The smell of blood fills the air as the world shatters like a mirror, and then you are in your pajamas, on the peak of a snow-covered mountain. You feel like you're about to sneeze, and suddenly a nine-tailed fox stands before you. "Don't forget to wear a coat."

"I'm sorry," you say.

"They will follow. Without chemicals, he points. You betrayed me."

And then, you think you've been here before (perhaps in a dream?) and an angelic choir begins to sing. You wake up with kind of a headache.

You find yourself standing in your pajamas, in a deserted parking lot. Everything begins to smell like cinnamon, and carved stone faces gaze impassively at you everywhere you look. Santa Claus approaches you, and seems to have something very important to tell you.

"Did you finish your homework? Don't take the telephone. <playername>?"

"I'm sorry," you reply.

"Don't forget to wear a coat."

Red curtains cover the walls, fluttering in a breeze you don't feel as invisible laughter swirls around you, and then you are next to an abandoned wishing well, miles above the earth. You look around, and find the Guy Made of Bees sitting on a grand piano.

"Remember my name! <playername>. Open the door."

You think you've been here before (perhaps in a dream?), and then all you can see is a ghostly sheet of paper. You pick it up, and it glows with a warm orange light, and you hear crickets chirping in the distance.

And then, something slithers by your foot and the world swirls around you. You wake up feeling unusually calm.

You find yourself standing in a field of wildflowers, miles above the earth. Carved stone faces gaze impassively at you everywhere you look, and your teeth begin to fall out. Telly Savalas approaches you, and holds up a brass knife with deep sadness.

"There is only one telephone. <name>! The seal is broken."

"Get bent!" you reply.

"The owls are not what they seem."

The wind howls through the trees as an angelic choir begins to sing, and then you are in your pajamas, in an abandoned hotel lobby. Before you, in a scintillating pool of light beside a long-lost refrigerator, rests a dirt-covered locket. As you reach out to touch it, it's so hot it feels like your hands are on fire, and you hear dogs barking and someone shouting far away. You run away in a panic as you can feel someone watching you.

And then, twinkling lights surround you like fireflies and invisible laughter swirls around you. You wake up shuddering.

You find yourself standing next to a river of blood, at the bottom of the ocean. Thorny brambles cover the ground, and you hear mocking laughter in the distance. You think you hear an elderly man with a long white beard shout "Look both ways before crossing the street." from somewhere nearby, but you don't see anyone.

You find a burning telephone resting atop a strange plinth, and pick it up. It's so cold it burns your hands, and it vanishes suddenly.

A warm breeze ruffles your hair as a brilliant light obscures your vision, and then you are on a subway platform, in the ruins of a long-forgotten temple. You look around, and find Santa Claus sitting on a sailboat.

"Where is my snow-globe? Open the door. They are coming. My dog has no nose."

An eerie rumbling sound surrounds you, and then all you can see is a bright sword. You pick it up, and it seems familiar for some reason, and the smell of baking bread fills the air.

And then, you think you've been here before (perhaps in a dream?) and a bright light pierces the gloom. You wake up with kind of a headache.

You find yourself standing in a field of wildflowers, in a long featureless hallway. The place seems familiar, but you can't say why, and the wind howls through the trees. A woman in a shimmering white kimono approaches you, and seems to have something very important to tell you.

"Remember me! They will follow. Trust your senses."

"Thank you," you reply.

"You must not forget."

You hear mocking laughter in the distance as the world swirls around you, and then you are in a shimmering pool of water, at the bottom of a rocky canyon. The smell of blood fills the air, and suddenly your mother stands before you. "The owls are not what they seem."

"I know," you say.

"Take the subway token. <playername>! They will arrive soon."

And then, the place is familiar, like you've been here before and everything around you dissolves into mist. You wake up in a cold sweat.

You find yourself standing next to an abandoned tool shed, in an abandoned shopping mall. You hear mocking laughter in the distance, and you think you've been here before (perhaps in a dream?). A little gray mouse and your father stare at you expressionlessly.

"Look both ways before crossing the street. This is your destiny. Where are you? This is not a dream." they say, in unison, and hand you a glittering sheet of paper and a normal-seeming envelope.

You hear mocking laughter in the distance as a flash of light blinds you, and then you are in your office, at the bottom of the ocean. You smell a storm brewing, and suddenly a little gray mouse stands before you. "You must not forget."

"I'm sorry," you say.

"<playername>? Take the cigar."

And then, the scent of spring rain fills the air and a brilliant light obscures your vision. You wake up shivering.

You find yourself standing in a rented tuxedo, deep underground. You can feel someone watching you, and black smoke swirls around you. You think you hear someone who looks exactly like you shout "Where are you?" from somewhere nearby, but you don't see anyone.

You find a familiar-looking sheet of paper resting atop a strangely familiar plinth, and pick it up. It shakes and trembles, and you think maybe you lost it long ago.

Red curtains cover the walls, fluttering in a breeze you don't feel as an angelic choir begins to sing, and then you are naked, near a comfortable-looking leather armchair. You look around, and find your father sitting on a telephone.

"This is your destiny. You know it to be true."

Black smoke swirls around you, and then all you can see is a silver cigar. You pick it up, and it feels strange in your hands, and the scent of spring rain fills the air.

And then, an eerie rumbling sound surrounds you and you begin to fall into darkness. You wake up with kind of a headache.

You find yourself standing in a field of wildflowers, in a deserted city. A thick white fog obscures the scenery, and the scent of roses fills the air. You find a wicked-looking human skull near your foot, and pick it up. You hear the chiming of wicked-looking bells, and it glows with a cool blue light.

"Remember my name! There is a man in a smiling bag. There is only one cigar." says a voice in your ear, but you see no one.

An unusually large moon shines above you as a bright light pierces the gloom, and then you are in your pajamas, in the middle of a trackless desert wasteland. You look around, and find the Hermit sitting on a refrigerator.

"The owls are not what they seem. They will arrive soon. They are coming."

A shower of cherry blossoms fills the air, and then all you can see is a decaying snow-globe. You pick it up, and it feels unusually heavy, like lead, and you smell a storm brewing.

And then, the smell of baking bread fills the air and your vision begins to blur. You wake up shivering.

As you reach out to touch it, it feels unusually heavy, like lead, and the smell of blood fills the air. You run away in a panic as you think you've been here before (perhaps in a dream?).

And then, the scenery twists and melts around you and a flash of light blinds you. You wake up with kind of a headache.

You find yourself standing in a stone sarcophagus, in an abandoned hotel lobby. Your teeth begin to fall out, and something slithers by your foot. You think you hear a smoke-gray wolf shout "Open the door." from somewhere nearby, but you don't see anyone.

You find a ragged coin resting atop a glass plinth, and pick it up. It's lighter than you expected, and it shakes and trembles.

The place seems familiar, but you can't say why as a flash of light blinds you, and then you are in a dimly-lit cave, miles above the earth. You look around, and find a little gray mouse sitting on a harpsichord.

"<playername>. They are coming. <playername>."

You think you can hear someone crying far away, and then all you can see is a rusty telephone. You pick it up, and it shimmers and changes colors, and something slithers by your foot.

And then, you think you've been here before (perhaps in a dream?) and you begin to fall into darkness. You wake up with kind of a headache.

You find yourself standing in a field of wildflowers, in the middle of a trackless desert wasteland. Twinkling lights surround you like fireflies, and the smell of iron fills your nostrils. The Guy Made of Bees approaches you, and hands you a glass scythe.

"My dog has no nose. There is a man in a smiling bag."

"I'm sorry," you reply.

"Where is my spoon?"

The smell of iron fills your nostrils as everything around you dissolves into mist, and then you are in a rented tuxedo, in an abandoned shopping mall. Before you, in a scintillating pool of light beside a long-lost briefcase, rests a dirt-covered amulet. As you reach out to touch it, you think maybe you lost it long ago, and something slithers by your foot. You run away in a panic as the smell of blood fills the air.

And then, a warm breeze ruffles your hair and everything around you dissolves into mist. You wake up screaming.

Dream Message Effect

I think I never had any one of those normal special dreams that grant items since I got my Unconscious Collective. Is it possible that the Collective prevents them from happening at all (including item gain) and nobody mentioned that? I mean I would think it's worth mentioning. --Yatsufusa (talk) 10:00, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

  • Free rests don't give dreams any more, ever. Since Collective dreams show up if and only if the rest is a free rest, it doesn't stop anything from happening. --KingBobson (talk) 11:33, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
    • Ah, thank you very much. Even after you told me I had to read the according section of the Resting page several times to actually see the mentioning of that. I think I'll update that to make it a little clearer. --Yatsufusa (talk) 13:17, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
