Talk:Vaso De Agua

From A KoL Wiki

I know that the names of Vega, M. Bison, and Balrog are all switched around in the transition between the Japanese and English versions of Street Fighter II. I just couldn't think of a not-unwieldy way to mention this on the page. --IMJack 12:16, 22 April 2006 (CDT)

Yep. I think my edit solves that problem. --sl1me 14:36, 23 April 2006 (CDT)

The vasco de gama reference is similar to the Queso Ardilla mistake, in that all spanish and apparently portugues things sound similar to people who don't speak the language, who then make connections between very dissimilar things because they aren't exposed to spanish and portugues words very often. The Queso Ardilla mistake, by the way, was someone thinking that it was a play on Quesadilla, rather than meaning "cheese squirrel." Anyway, I'm leaving it in for now, just as an educational tool on conquistadors. That's right kol wiki, I called you stupid. If somebody else takes it out, I'm cool with that. Singlish

  • i could find no mention of the word agua being used to mean gay in Singlish in ten minutes Googling. if someone could point me to a page i'd be only too happy to reinstate it. --Evilkolbot 14:18, 16 May 2007 (CDT)
  • Not having made the abovementioned claim, i found the thing unknown guy was referring to here:
"AH QUAH
(ah-koo-ah)
An offensive term for an effeminate man. The Singlish equivalent of “faggot” or “fairy”.

    • hmm. agua is pronounced many ways, but ah-koo-ah seems a bit of a stretch. it is, as the original poster said, a coincidence at best. stays out. --Evilkolbot 16:18, 16 May 2007 (CDT)
