Talk:Vibrating cyborg knife

Does the fumble chance go to 6x when dual-wielded? Clockwork Apparatus FTW!--Chugsworth 22:36, 21 December 2007 (CST)

or is it like the antique spear. when held on the off hand bad things (it breaking) dont happen.--Blood panther 22:37, 21 December 2007 (CST)

I'm guessing that like the critical hit multipliers, only the highest one counts, since all fumble modifiers are either X# or never fumble. The only crit hit multipliers that stack are the ones that are +N chance, not the X ones, I believe...

Well, crit multipliers say explicitly that they don't stack. But from my testing, it seems unlikely that fumble multipliers stack. --Starwed 00:23, 23 December 2007 (CST)

If I have plexiglass pendant, or anything else that has a no fumble enchantment, will I fumble or no? --Keeko1642 08:09, 22 December 2007 (CST)

I have a plexi pendant, and I didn't fumble when I was dual-wielding. -Mozai 10:23, 22 December 2007 (CST)

I think that the " I recall that a certain anime had a "Monomolecular cutter"... I think it was Full Metal Panic. --Cassarenas 15:33, 22 December 2007 (CST)

I tried to pulverize one of these and got the message "Naughty, Naughty." Do you get this for all Crimborg equipment? --Tim333 00:16, 23 December 2007 (CST)

  • Yes. They're not rolled out properly, it seems. --Ricket 00:17, 23 December 2007 (CST)

Description probably refers to a song by The Smiths, "Oscillate Wildly." --Mfop 02:06, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Probably a reference to the Progressive Knife from Evangelion. I hate myself for knowing this. --Hazuki 04:46, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

  • unfortunately there's no evidence that this is the case. ask radiobugbear, you never know. --Evilkolbot 12:27, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Why is there a specific "probably a reference to" note on this? vibrating/monomolecular swords/knives are all over science fiction. One of the ways they make sword fighting adequately futuristic to be more believable (well, slightly less ridiculous) in a furutistic setting. Star Wars, Shadowrun, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, WoW, and more comics and cartoons than you can shake a stick at, etc. Marvel universe even has a special magical vibrating metal, I hear, which apparently is used for making swords and such instead of a few more obvious purposes you might put it to. Even Heinlein's "If this goes on...", which predates any of the others listed. Come to think, it's kind of a wierd thing to be so ubiquitous isn't it? --Rgon 17:40, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
