Talk:What's Up, Doc?

From A KoL Wiki

I can safely say that this quest does not require the Cyrpt to be completed. I've yet to complete it in my current run, and I got the quest anyway. --Zapmaster 01:29, 12 July 2006 (CDT)

If you want to be anal about the rewards, it's a 40% reduction in his full-restorer costs: 6/HP, 12/MP --Enkazama 02:27, 12 July 2006 (CDT)

Does the reward persist across ascension, or does 'lifetime' mean 'until you ascend'?? --DirkDiggler 03:18, 12 July 2006 (CDT)

I'm level 6, but I'm doing gourdcore so I hadn't visited the Council of Loathing for a while (not since I got the mosquito larva quest), and Doc Galaktik wouldn't give me this quest - he didn't ask for help or anything, it was just the way it looked before the quest was implemented -. Then I visited the council of loathing and got Cobb's knob opened up. I don't have the Friar's area opened up yet, nor the crypt, but I got the quest from Doc Galaktik after unlocking the quests up to level 6. Pthalo 15:17, 12 July 2006 (CDT)

The discount doesn't persist over ascension. Did the quest before stepping through the gash, and got the discount. Ascended, and the price is back to 10 meat per HP. Quest opens up at level 6 by the way, just a little bit too late (past the knob quest, where you spend a lot of time in the harem). --Twf 14:36, 13 July 2006 (CDT)

Thanks for the info Twf. I, however, did get the quest just after opening the knob at level 5. Hmm...--DirkDiggler 14:54, 13 July 2006 (CDT)

Hm, just to be anal, but has anyone verified the items must be gathered in order? Also, can more than 3 of each herb be gathered?Jest Phulin

The order of the items doesn't matter. More than three can be gathered, though since they are quest items they dissappear with ascension. --McDutchy 13:12, 16 July 2006 (CDT)

Are you sure about that? After gathering three of each item (in about 20 adventures each), I tried adventuring for 50 more adventures in each location and never saw another one again. I think there's a limit of 3. --Ragnok 20:19, 19 July 2006 (CDT)

Hey, the required level to do this quest is really five, not six! I think there was a misunderstanding because you need to level up to level 5, see the council, get the The King of Cobb's Knob Quest so you can gain access to the Cobb's Knob, and then, only after gaining the Cobb's Knob quest can you see Doc Galaktik to get his quest. However, one cannot visit the Deep Fat Friars at level 5, so there is obviously some confusion... But here, fellow loathers, is my proof: http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y19/Teenr0cker/?action=view&current=KoL_proof.jpg&refPage=&imgAnch=imgAnch1

Does this quest have a new trigger? I didn't get it until level 8 even though some of my clannies swear that they got it earlier. --Ithanox 05:48, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

Ithanox: I got the quest at level 6. Re: Trying to obtain items before completing the Friars' quest -- I adventured for about 45 turns in the Dark Elbow and did not get any of the required item from the demoninjas. As soon as I completed the friars' quest, the very first demoninja I encountered dropped it. I'm not sure about the advice to try before completing the quest. Anyone else tested this?--Badverb 11:46, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

re: New trigger - just ran into this myself. Now you can only get it after unlocking Cobb's Knob, which no longer happens automatically. Updated the page to reflect the change. --Bokodasu 13:25, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

References

The Dead Milkmen reference needs to have the song specified. And possibly have its relevance as a reference debated. --Flargen 16:11, 10 February 2008 (CST)

It was actually my mistake. The song "Quest for Herb" is from Murphy's Law, not the Dead Milkmen, so the relavance is probably nil (unless Jick likes Murphy's Law as well :-) ) Do I remove the reference on the page, or does an editor do that? --Senkrad 18:29, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

The location for the Demoninjas should be changed. They are now in the Pandamonium slums. --Necco 03:40, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Text

Should most of the text be here? A lot of it is from Doc G Quest Choice. Discordance (talk) 15:30, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

  • I was torn in adding it. I'd be fine with replace that particular text with a link to Doc G Quest Choice.-Foggy (talk) 16:39, 22 April 2015 (UTC)
