Talk:Your Log Saw Something That Night

From A KoL Wiki

Should this page be renamed to: "Your Log Saw Something That Night"? --LucySpace 21:23, 9 June 2006 (CDT)

  • Done. --Quietust 21:54, 9 June 2006 (CDT)
  • Personally, I think it should be deleted entirely, as this was up entirely too soon. Hell of an incentive for people to show off new discoveries when their hard work gets cheapened in a matter of hours. --Antipode 21:26, 9 June 2006 (CDT)
    • I wasn't aware that the wiki was subject to the various "spoiler restrictions". Other than the leaflet code, for some reason. --Quietust 21:54, 9 June 2006 (CDT)
      • I don't believe that policy exists. If there was then it would be enforced...somehow...--SomeStranger (T | C) 22:32, 9 June 2006 (CDT)
      • Regardless. Three months of spading to find it, and two hours later for people who didn't even try to get it? Could've waited a bit longer than that before spoiling it for everyone, at least out of respect for the spades who tore their hair out for a quarter of a year. --Antipode 16:53, 10 June 2006 (CDT)

I've never actually seen Twin Peaks, but I added the reference as best as I can gather. If anyone here has, and finds my statement of the reference to be incorrect, feel free to change it.--Hogulus 22:54, 9 June 2006 (CDT)

  • Close enough for government work, as far as I'm aware. Mr. Blonde 00:46, 10 June 2006 (CDT)
  • The reference is good enough. You pretty much covered it. For anyone curious, the full quote is "One day my Log will have something to say about this. My Log saw something that night." Also, the Log is her husband but that's a different story entirely.--Vliam 10:12, 14 June 2006 (CDT)

This is that insta-trophy, isn't it? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mr. Blonde (talkcontribs) at 23:46, 9 June 2006 (CDT).

  • About the insta-est trophy there could be.--Stannius 12:16, 10 June 2006 (CDT)

Deleting the first found by ___ note as in a game like KoL where a huge segment of the player base plays the game with little to no interaction with the community it is virtually if not practically impossible to prove who was the first to find it. He may well be who found and spread the secret or who found it and was noticed by other people but there is very little reason to believe someone else who didn't display it or is a totally unknown didn't find it first.--Practitioner of Saucy Arts 09:43, 6 September 2006 (CDT)

  • Considering that there was spading involved for many months, the forum thread gives credit to him as the first person to have the instatrophy. http://forums.kingdomofloathing.com/viewtopic.php?t=55303&start=1560 Even Riff further down in the thread congratulates him on being the first to find it. I think it should go back in, prehaps slightly reworded; keeping the history on things like this are good. --Fryguy9 10:20, 6 September 2006 (CDT)
    • If you were to put it back in though my opinion is still to leave it out I think it would only be appropriate to use words like the first known person to find it or the first person known to find it. As to the thread and history I am quite aware of it as I do tend to read the forums and had followed it mysel;f though the recent move to try to incoporate history into base wiki pages seems ill advised in my opinion. I understand the communal nature of the game and the desire to add those little trivial embelishment but imo theyd be better seperated and placed in their own pages, history summary pages, or as embellishments in featured article type pages. Still as I stated above if other think it needs to go back in so be it but regardless the wording would need to be changed.--Practitioner of Saucy Arts 15:43, 6 September 2006 (CDT)

Big vs Round

Fixed a common misconception: log is not "it's big, it's heavy, it's wood!" but rather is round, heavy, and wood. Hell of a pet peeve I'm burdened with. --Hurt Reynolds 15:33, 6 October 2006 (CDT)

Is it gone?

I tried putting "Laura Palmer", with and without quotes, with both fonts, into the Notes section of my Quest Log, and yet the Trophy Maker denies that I've qualified for a trophy. I copy-and-pasted it, so I didn't spell it wrong, and I had the 10,000 meat. Plus I've gotten it before on a seperate account, so it's unlikely I'm doing something wrong... could somebody explain please? --DGrupultsnik 21:37, 24 February 2007 (CST)

  • Nope, it's definitely still available. I just checked. The only things I can think of that you might be doing wrong are failing to save the text or you unknowingly obtained the trophy. --TheDotGamer 01:58, 25 February 2007 (CST)

Now where did I put that trophy....

On both my main and my multi I have previously bought this trophy. However I seem to no longer have the trophy. Now I don't think I'm going mad because I remember re-buying the trophy after losing and thinking something was a bit weird. Anyone else observed this? --Tornan Steel 16:36, 12 May 2008 (CDT)

Spading

How was this trophy discovered? Some of the same techniques might map over to the search for Trophy #68.--DoctorWorm 23:23, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

There is a forum link up above, but it doesn't take you to the right spot. The current link to the correct page is: http://forums.kingdomofloathing.com/vb/showthread.php?t=118066&page=27 Where the trophy is called "the instatrophy", and first post with a success is from Antipode, but Matt the Fish is credited as having found it first. Note that definate article there "the instatrophy", used even by Riff in his congratulations. Yet everything we've been told about #68 is that it is another "instatrophy"... --Club (#66669) (Talk) 21:34, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
