The last Latin phrase (NOS NON NECESSITAS NULLAS AQUIA PERMISSIUM MATRISFORNICATIO EXURO) translates to "We don't need no Motherf*er's permission to burn the bird/eagle." At least that's what my two years of high school Latin thinks. Anyone know what this means? Four years of high school Latin notes that "eagle" is aquila. :) Not getting into the rest; I'd have to actually, like, dig up a L-E dictionary for it, and the intended meaning is pretty obvious. ;) --SDLynn 22:06, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

Just making sure I'm not the only one who noticed this, but not all of the Latin phrases are just Latin...there's a few Pig Latin words thrown in, like owthray, aveway, ikelay, imestay, onnagay, etlay, and atwhay.--Ungoliath 01:43, 28 June 2007 (CDT)

Having played it on the piano, we've come to a couple of conclusions about the peice of music: first, bars go 3.5 beats, 3.5 beats, 4, 4; secondly, there's a dischord in there which is only normally seen in a. Incidental music, and b. modern classical. --Catkiller 16:22, 28 June 2007 (CDT)

The first bar is "Shave and a Haircut" in minor key. (I wasted way too much time in the Haunted Bathroom after figuring that out...) Ok, I went through a bunch of 7th Guest and 11th Hour midis I found online. While the second line is indeed very similar to some of the themes, there's no direct match that I could find. I had a hunch on something, so I tried it. I didn't open the diary and did the hidden temple for 15 or so adventures without anything special. Then I went through the entire diary and got all three adventures very soon. Coincidence? --MrAndersonMan 05:29, 16 July 2007 (CDT)

No; you can't do any of the quests without reading the appropriate section of the journal first. (Even people with snake charms couldn't get into the palindrome unless they'd read the right page first.) --Starwed 05:56, 16 July 2007 (CDT)

New Diary Images?

  • I didn't want to edit the page because I'm not sure, but does anyone else think Password: swordfish" is a reference to Return To Zork? There's a part early in the game where you have to get into a paranoid lighthouse keeper's lighthouse, and he goes, "What's the password? I can't let you in without the password! Now don't try swordfish; I know it's not that. I tried it myself, I couldn't get in! So I KNOW it's not that." It's so sad that I actually remember this. Genofreek 12:08, 3 December 2007 (CST)

Indiana Jones Reference

It should be noted that this diary, and in fact many parts of the level 11 quest are rather blatant references to Indana Jones and the Last Crusade I'm not sure if this is referenced elsewhere, but it should definitely be noted, and it is not here.--The 3000th flare 17:29, 23 February 2008 (CST)

Bor 11

Page 3 of the diary references an imaginary date. "Bor 11: Discovered a passage about the Temple in a book on ancient religious architecture. Appears to contain notes about some kind of ritual. The complete palindrome

Not sure if it is already somewhere else, or mayby no-one noticed, but if you finish the uncomplete palindrome on page 7 ("God, a red nugget, a fat egg") it fully reads: "God, a red nugget, a fat egg under a dog"... This is the hint to also use the Ketchup Hound as the fourth item, and that the egg should be at the bottom. Maybe to spoilery or maybe worth posting in Notes?--Sjerrul 00:25, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

In-Game Text

Looking at the history, this has happened several times. The "(???)" and the "We do not...?" is not the wiki having an incomplete translation. That is what the actual item says in the game.
