Talk:Zim Merman's guitar
Is the item (and most of its description) a reference to Bob Dylan (birth name Robert Allen Zimmerman)? And the "nice lady" at the end of the description would seem to be a Jerry Lewis reference. --Jorgen 07:48, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
- Sure sounds like it. "The mumblin', stumblin', folk-singin' hero of the hippy army" is a pretty good description of how people saw Dylan. How is "nice lady" a Jerry Lee Lewis ref, though? I can't think of any JLL songs with that phrase in them. -- Old Ned 08:21, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
- I meant the comedian Jerry Lewis. Punctuating things with "nice lady", with some extra/altered emphasis on lady, was something of a standard punchline for him. Not that I'm fan. I think I learned that from Animaniacs. I'm going to go ahead and add the Dylan reference. --Jorgen 01:27, 2 July 2007 (CDT)
- I'm all about the Jerry Lewis reference, but why? It seems out of place on an instrument that is otherwise entirely focused on Bob Dylan. Is there another possibility? Hd 07:35, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

As far as combat messages goes, all I ever seem to get is
You hit it for <whatever> damage. SOCKO! BOOF! ZOT! BOOF! SPLAT! POW! WHAM! ZAP!
Nothing strange and interesting anyway. Maybe it's broken or something, cheap hippy technology! :P --Denarius 07:58, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
Can someone confirm if this works for the String Instrument part of the NS quest? --Wisdom is Power
I just tried it and it does not work for Sinister Strumming.--Error1 18:29, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
I received the following attack line - You say, "look out kid, you're gonna get hit," and hit him with a tune from your guitar. Well, you did warn him. ZAP! POW! SPLAT! POW! ZAP! BIFF! ZAP!
Notice how there is no damage. Is there some other intrinsic effect of the guitar?

Actually, it just doesn't say how much damage you're doing with the "look out kid..." message, but it seems that you're still doing normal damage.--Dead guys watch 00:21, 17 August 2007 (CDT)
Ha. "Look out kid, you're gonna get hit" is a line from Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues", which confirms that this whole item is a Dylan ref (if anybody was still uncertain). -- Old Ned 00:51, 30 July 2007 (CDT)
I'm wondering if the 'How does it FEEL' bit is another song reference, maybe Blue Monday.--Konoko 05:01, 8 January 2008 (CST)
"How does it FEEL" is from the Dylan song "Like a Rolling Stone".--Davidsan 15:33, 8 January 2008 (CST)
