A Telescope

A Telescope is a furnishing located at your Campground.

When Used

Your campsite contains a shiny telescope from Discount Telescope Warehouse. You can use it to look at distant celestial objects, or you can take a gander at things a little closer to home. What's it gonna be?

Look High

• Once per day:

You gaze into the depths of space, and become filled with the glorious majesty of it all.

You acquire an effect: Starry-Eyed (duration: 10 Adventures)

• Subsequent uses:

You've already peered into the Heavens today. You're already feeling as inspired as you can be for one day.

Look Low

You point your telescope toward the Naughty Sorceress' Tower and look through it.

• With a basic Telescope:

You point your telescope toward the Naughty Sorceress' Tower and look through it.

You see a group of people darting around outside the walls of the keep.

You adjust the focus and see a second group of people <clue>

Smartest Adventurer (Mysticality)	sitting around playing chess and solving complicated-looking logic puzzles.

You scan to the right a bit and see a third group of <clue>

Elemental Damage Contest	Clue
Hottest Adventurer (Hot Damage and Hot Spell Damage)	people, all of whom appear to be on fire.
Spookiest Adventurer (Spooky Damage and Spooky Spell Damage)	people, surrounded by a cloud of eldritch mist.
Sleaziest Adventurer (Sleaze Damage and Sleaze Spell Damage)	greasy-looking people furtively skulking around.
Stinkiest Adventurer (Stench Damage and Stench Spell Damage)	people, surrounded by garbage and clouds of flies.
Coolest Adventurer (Cold Damage and Cold Spell Damage)	people, clustered around a group of igloos.

• With two upgrades:

You sweep the telescope up to reveal some <clue>

First Maze Trap	Clue
Hot Damage	smoldering bushes on the outskirts of a hedge maze.
Spooky Damage	creepy-looking black bushes on the outskirts of a hedge maze.
Sleaze Damage	purplish, greasy-looking hedges.
Stench Damage	nasty-looking, dripping green bushes on the outskirts of a hedge maze.
Cold Damage	frost-rimed bushes on the outskirts of a hedge maze.

• With three upgrades:

Beyond the maze's entrance you see <clue>

Second Maze Trap	Clue
Hot Damage	smoke rising from deeper within the maze.
Spooky Damage	a miasma of eldritch vapors rising from deeper within the maze.
Sleaze Damage	a greasy purple cloud hanging over the center of the maze.
Stench Damage	a cloud of green gas hovering over the maze.
Cold Damage	wintry mists rising from deeper within the maze.

• With four upgrades:

You focus the telescope on the back side of the keep, somehow, and see a pipe <clue>

Third Maze Trap	Clue
Hot Damage	with lava slowly oozing out of it.
Spooky Damage	surrounded by creepy black mist.
Sleaze Damage	that occasionally vomits out a greasy ball of hair.
Stench Damage	disgorging a really surprising amount of sewage.
Cold Damage	occasionally disgorging a bunch of ice cubes.

• If your path is Bugbear Invasion, regardless of how many upgrades you have:

Possibly as it was before the 2015 tower revamp:

You see the nether regions of a giant bugbear-shaped spaceship.

Notes

• Obtained by using Discount Telescope Warehouse gift certificate.
• The telescope will remain in the player's campsite through future ascensions, with the exception of Bad Moon runs.

History

• The Telescope was significantly revamped as of January 1st, 2015 as part of a change to the Level 13 quest. Details on the previous telescope can be found at A Telescope/Old.
