Template:FEATURE Shadow Rifts

Some more unknown eldritch horror is the shadows that hide in the darkness. While mostly reported in the Distant Lands, some similar sightings have been spotted within the Kingdom of Loathing. More notable was during the 2023 spring season, when unknown events led to 13 Shadow Rifts appearing all over the kingdom. Inside lies shadowy horrors that slowly strengthen the longer you overstay your non-welcome. The shadow's drops are the only reason why one would dare venture into a Shadow Rift, and even then, the horrors inside make it hard to find such loot dropped by the shadows or across certain paths.

When the summer season came, it seemed as if all of the shadow rifts disappeared. However, March 2023's Item of the Month, the closed-circuit pay phone, will allow a certain benefactor to reopen the rifts in exchange for a few errands for you to run within the Shadow Rifts. On the bright side, completing these errands will also reward you with a shadowy tool able to help you navigate the madness, as well as some Shadow Affinity for some free adventures within the rifts.
